“That night at Picadilly, I was due to have my TiMER go off.”
Price furrows his brow while he drops his head in a terse nod.
“By the end of it, I was zeroed out,” Kyle says, tugging up his sleeve to show the TiMER on his wrist. He grimaces at the sight of it, using his other hand to tap at the visible zeroes, matching him to some AQ bastard. “And that’s another thing, sir; they’re still alive.”
Price stares hard down at the TiMER, then looks up to Kyle’s face, while his mouth gradually flattens with evident puzzlement. He doesn’t seem at all disgusted, nor angry, which is a relief, but the fact he doesn’t seem to be able to wrap his head around the idea is about as welcome a reaction. “To be clear, you’re saying you haven’t known…” He cuts himself off, as he visibly chews his lips, then he takes a deep breath. “Could’ve been someone else, yeah,” he says, voice pitching into an odd tone, almost imploring, like Kyle has never heard out of him. “Picadilly was… a damned circus.”

Summary
This is what his life has come to. He’s being disrespected by a dumpster rat.
He wishes he had someone to blame his current situation on, someone to direct his anger at, but in all honesty, the shitshow that landed him here was nothing more than an unfortunate series of entirely incidental accidents.
He knocks his head back into the wall behind him and huffs. Next to him, the rat chitters (sounding sympathetic, though Soap is beginning to think he might be projecting… or just losing it).
Or: Soap loses comms on a mission and is presumed dead. Having been left behind, he has no choice but to make his own way back to base. He doesn't expect to have been missed quite so much.

Summary
Ghost saw red as he left the tarmac.
The helo had unloaded, bringing home an entire squad of marines largely unscathed. Though this was normally cause for celebration, congratulations thrown to the mission's commanding officer, that particular person was nowhere to be found. When the last soldier exited Ghost barely resisted the urge to maim each one of them for answers.
Marching down the corridors he was sure a dark shadow loomed around him, his skull mask making him look every bit the dark phantom many rumors around base painted him as.
He didn't care about any of it. Nothing mattered more than the one thought piercing through his mind.
Johnny was missing.
