“Put an end to you?” Derek said, a final triumphant grin stretched across his face.
“I already told you, Little Lord. Why would I put the instructions to my demise within my own domain?” The voice cooed. Derek froze, and the grin slipped off of his face.
“What?” He asked, his voice small. He won, didn't he? The King had panicked when Derek recited the spell, hadn't It?
“You were never bait for Avery. He was bait for you. The mind is not so easily turned unusable for my purposes. I wanted you to find that book. I wanted your curiosity and selflessness to lead you to ME, over, and over, and over again. And then, I wanted you to let me in.”

the cloth gaging his mouth, making him sputter and spit, soaking the dark fabric.
The freezer atmosphere dark and cold, hard to take a full breath. His green eyes look into those dark lifeless ones, he knew pleading with a man driven to insanity by his own hands was pointless.
The man was far beyond saving, he had already lost himself years ago. He may never find who he is— who he 𝐖𝐚𝐬, ever again. That version of himself has been gone for years.
