Baxter practically choked on his tea when he saw the news. Claws gripped the arm of his chair so tightly that he had to pry them from the velvet, leaving pinprick divots behind.
“What in the fresh Hell is he thinking!?” he shouted at his television. Restraint had to be maintained to keep from throwing something, his mug most likely, at the damned TV. He thought they’d agree to use the eggs as a means to spread their scientific discovery, in a safe, contained way, but here that blinded snake was, engaging in catastrophe.
Something had to be done about this.

Hector feels his lips quirk up, gazing at your warm cheeks. Only he can bring out this side of you, guide you into a trance with his words. You inch closer to his grate.
Hector is about to warn you, except you yawn, causing the stool beneath you to stir.
It happened so quickly, too fast for Hector to stop it. You cry as you twist, missing the hands he offers as you descend. His heart lurches at the thud of the stool, your hip hitting it as the rug digs into your arm.

But masks and faces, and manners too,
disguise the single face that’s true.
The face that’s under the facade,
the one the foolish, charmed and awed,
profess to see, to claim to know,
although they’ve never seen it show.
And so they pry through charm and guile,
in hopes to see what’s ‘neath that smile.
However, they are unaware,
that mask and face are not a pair.
For those that pry soon come to find
they don’t like what’s hiding behind,
because the face once locked within,
might not be that charming grin.
And thus the wise are dread to ask
to see what’s there beneath the mask.

Summary
Jack Desmond, a normal cartoon office worker, lives a life of peace in the Toon Genre when he stumbles upon a wounded stranger in a dark alleyway and, against his better judgment, brings him home. Gavriel Huffman, a scary mobster boss from the Grim Genre, awakens patched up in an unknown apartment, finding himself being taken care of by a nervous yet earnest cartoon man.
As the Grim man begrudgingly accepts the Toon's help, the two strangers learn to coexist under one roof and shenanigans ensue as Gavriel's sudden appearance is met with suspicion by people in Jack's life.
