Ellie's head snaps up and over to where a girl's voice comes from, and she immediately regrets it when the world sways and her vision blurs.
"You're that girl from Jackson," the girl's bleary lips move, forming words that take Ellie a second to process. The name of Ellie's hometown back in Wyoming rings alarms in her head. How the fuck would anyone know that? She squints her eyes further, desperately trying to see who is chained up to the wall opposite from her. Is it one of Abby's friends? That's the only way someone would remember her.
When Ellie finally gets a good look at the girl's face, her heart pounds and her skin boils as white-hot rage floods through her body.
It's her.
"Abby." The name spills from Ellie's lips, sounding like a threat. She doesn't say her name with any ounce of uncertainty. She knows it's her. How could she ever forget that face? The face of Joel's killer that has haunted her nightmares for months.

*Currently on writing hiatus. As of 12/24/2024, 4k out of 100k words written. Sooo...this isn't the Christmas present/update I wanted to give you. Due to family life, unexpected happenstance and the general exhaustion of politics in 2024, I didn't write nearly as much as I usually do. Not even my own stuff. I do apologize for that.
With that, I still plan to finish this thing. I still plan to write the 100k words and I believe there's no reason I can't finish that in 2025. It will just be much later in 2025 than I was hoping. Briar Theodore Evans was born the 30th of January, 1960 at 8:32 pm. A whole 6 minutes before Lily Jane Evans, who followed at precisely 8:38 pm. This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen. At least, it’s not how Briar remembered it happening when he read the books. Not that there was much he could remember about Harry Potter’s parents anymore. It had been years and they were such a small part. . .
Or
Briar may’ve come preloaded with the memories of a 23 year old—who once held a close to encyclopedic knowledge of the Harry Potter Series—but that does little to actually help him become powerful enough to fight Voldemort. He’s only capable of so much while stuck with a child’s brain and forced to grow up in 1960s & 70s Cokeworth England. Not to mention his less than ideal socio-political positions in, not just one, but two new worlds.
Struggling to gain enough power and knowledge to save Lily, Briar fights to reach his only life goal.
If only other people would stop distracting him. . .
