Adrien whirled around toward Marinette. She smiled at him.
He couldn’t smile back. He stared at her like the dumb blond model that he was often accused of being.
Something shifted in her expression. And her warm open Marinette smile transformed into Ladybug’s grin. He was looking at Ladybug right now.
He knew Ladybug’s name!
Her name was Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
And he couldn’t say anything! Not to Marinette! Not even to Plagg, who had confided two weeks prior that Master Fu was growing increasingly paranoid since the location of his home and hideout had been compromised. Their master had apparently decided that Chat Noir and Ladybug would have to give up their miraculouses if they ever discovered each other’s identities.

“I’m right here,” he assured, holding her tightly. “I’m okay.”
“You’re okay,” she repeated, but she couldn’t believe it. Not when the memory of him going still and stiff in her arms was so fresh and alive behind her eyelids each and every time she blinked.
Her cries came harder and faster, and she didn’t understand it. He was okay. She was okay! But her body wouldn’t stop shaking and her throat was closing off anyway. Her breath came in ragged panicked intervals.
Chat Noir cradled her face with a hand and urged her face towards his, the pad of his thumb brushed away her tears. “Look at me.”
She did as he said, and god, his eyes were so green – the color of spring grass, the color of sparkling emeralds, the color of life. They held no judgment or frustration, only soft concern, and so much care and love that she trembled.
He was only a finger width away. She could feel his breath on her nose and cheeks, but she wanted more. Needed more. She needed to feel something real and raw, anything other than the horrifying fear that they had almost lost in the worst possible way.
Without thought, she closed the distance between them.

Summary
An unfortunate first meeting lends itself into triggering a chain of events that leads Marinette to become Adrien's temporary secretary while his is on maternity leave. The only hard part is, they can't keep their eyes off of each other. Actually, I lied. The real hard part is that Hurricane Marinette has breakdowns every few days, and Adrien's nosiness is going to cost him more than he'll ever know. And it's hard to seek comfort when the only person you want it from is a wall away and somehow, unreachable.
