“He was looking at it. Earlier.”
Mike’s eyes do that darkening thing again. “Yeah?”
Will nods. With Mike looking at him like that, he suddenly feels like his voice is going to give out. But after a moment, Mike’s expression lifts again, soft smile taking over his face. He nudges Will’s shoulder with his own. “Told ya it’d work.”
“I guess,” says Will. His own smile doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
Or, Mike helps Will make his co-worker jealous. Which, apparently, means covering Will in hickeys and making out with him.

He hardly had time to process the door swinging open before Mike’s voice polluted his solitude. Will wanted to dash across the room. A part of him wanted to reach out, gently run fingertips across his skin, comforting all the ache. Another wanted to run his back-hand across his cheeks as hard as he could, a sort of retribution for his sister. God knows whatever was the breaking point wouldn't have been her fault.
OR
An emotionally repressed, touch-deprived Mike Wheeler comes to the only person he can ask for comfort.

Summary
Mike is not coping as well as everyone thinks he is. He hides so many secrets that he thinks they will kill him from the inside out. The biggest of all, He is in love with his best friend, and he hates him for it. Mike and Will don't speak much anymore; both seem to resent each other. Slowly, walls start to fall, and they come to understand each other better, but not before they almost kill each other.
This fic takes place right before season five. It loosely follows the plot up until E4S5, from there I will be doing my own thing :) Major trigger warning, this will get dark! and make sure ur not squemish bc things will get pretty gory lol. If you're also an Ethel Cain fan you are in for a treat! Each chapter is named after a song lyric, and I have written down the songs so u can listen while you read the chapter. I see similarities between Will and Ethel, I guess Mike is Willoughby <3
