He grinned when he heard Leon’s breath hitch.
“What do you have in mind?” Leon put the gun down and leaned back.
“It’s a card game.”
“You can be a bit more specific, asshole.”

The honorably discharged major feasted his eyes on the Michelin-grade course served to him in the shape of a body clad in a cherry-red t-shirt that clung to his nicely rounded muscles, accentuating each curve and dip from his pectorals to his narrowing waist and form-fitting jeans. The man that the body belonged to had not yet noticed him – a fact that pulled the corner of Jack’s lips into a gnarly smirk, which combined with the vicious, relatively fresh gash slicing his face into two, threatened to reveal his carnivorous canines.
Krauser could have bet that he must taste bitter. All the pretty ones did. Tender, but bitter. It was always a choice between that or the sweet and chewy. In another life, Jack would always go for the latter but now, after years of enduring, of surviving , he didn’t want to grind every piece extensively until his jaws were sore. Now he just wanted something soft to sink his teeth into; A juicy piece of meat already pounded tender by someone else.

A slender hand to his chest gently pushed him against the pillows. Krauser could tell something was still gnawing at him, but he looked cute when he was worried. Part of him still wondered if Leon would go through with all of this or if he’d find some other reason to draw all this out again.
“Ready?” Leon gave him a soft smile.
“Always.” And it never felt more true.

Krauser came to this bar at the outskirts of Arklay for only two reasons: to drink and to be left alone. Krauser could forget the long, twisted, brutal course of his life when he was buzzed. No past injuries, mistakes, losses. Just Krauser and a pint of beer.
Fate, however, seemed to have other plans for him.
(Important note: I have only just realized that chapter 12 of this fic was completely skipped while I was initially posting it. I've rectified that now, but I'm mortified given that it's absolutely vital to the story. Right now, the most recent chapter posted is 12, so go ahead and read that if you're looking for what's new.)
