“Ow!” Barbie hisses, jerking her hand away from her bag, watching as an angry red spot blooms on the back of her hand. She squints, trying to find the perpetrator, but all that’s there is a dead spider.
Huh.
“Barbie?” Gloria says, concern dripping in her tone. “What happened? Are you okay?”
She grabs Barbie’s hand, inspecting the angry red spot already blooming on the back of it. Sasha looks at it too, peering over from her side of the table, fork hanging from her mouth, and murmurs, “Gross.”
“Yeah, it’s just a bug bite,” Barbie assures. “I’ll be fine.”
