Summary
Reiner Braun was raised to be full of contradictions. His mother raised him to trust everybody, and the military raised him to trust nobody. He was bright and knew many useful skills in life, like budgeting and sewing, but also only knew useless skills in life, like budgeting and sewing. The only thing his upbringing could agree on was that the government was good, God was good, and Eldians were bad, unfortunately his experiences seemed to contradict even that simple doctrine.
Now, fresh out of training and only 9 years old he has to fight in a war he doesn’t understand, and somehow maintain his sanity when everyday life seems to pull him in a new direction.

Summary
Germany, 1945. A nation lost, a nation dying. Deserters abound, but some desperately cling to the last remnants of the Reich.
In a final attempt to gain an advantage, Reiner Braun, Annie Braun, Marcel Galliard, and Bertholdt Hoover are sent out as child soldiers; they're given directives to take down enemy squads - should they fail, they imperil their families' lives. However, as they try and complete their mission, it becomes increasingly harder when they grow close to the enemy.
It doesn't take long for them to consider treason, and for that, they risk it all.

Summary
When Irene Adler contacts Mycroft Holmes with some shocking information and instructs him not to share it with Sherlock, he believes it to be a calculated power play against him. In some ways he's right, but the truth is more complicated, and personal.
This is an AU sequel to 'Neither A Soldier Nor A Gentleman' (http://archiveofourown.org/works/338793/chapters/548227) and so I suggest reading that first, but this work is also a study on the relationship of the Holmes brothers.
The POV switches between Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock Holmes, and Irene Adler.
