Summary
When Jonathan Kent dies mysteriously during the Kansas State Senate race against devious billionaire, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane smells a story, but out of respect for Clark and Martha Kent, she chooses not to pursue it. Instead, the years go by and she focuses on her burgeoning journalism career, eventually landing a role at the prestigious Daily Planet newspaper in Metropolis.
When a severe case of writer’s block leads to Lois renewing her investigation into Jonathan’s death, her editor Perry White saddles her with a new partner and much to her surprise, it’s Clark Kent.
Together they set out to bring down Lex Luthor once and for all.

As she approached the actually rather unremarkable looking young man, she felt a swell of doubt. Was he really who she’d thought he was? Spider-Man had been a giant of a man, someone she could easily imagine at the front of her train, gripping hundreds of webs with power enough to crush the train car into the shape of his body.
This boy looked barely able to carry his overstuffed backpack. With his Oxford shirt and jeans and neatly combed hair, he could have been the poster child for a 1950s science scholarship. Not someone you imagined facing down an eight-armed psychopath on a speeding train.
Half convinced she’d imagined the whole thing, Maggie crossed the diner and stepped up to his table. After a moment he noticed her, lifting his attention from an open book full of equations and cracker crumbs to look right at her.
All doubt vanished when Maggie looked into his blue eyes and round face. It was him. No question. It was Spider-Man, right here at her table, waiting to order breakfast from her.

Finally her destination is in sight, light reflecting off the water’s surface as she catches a glimpse through the manicured greenery. The cold air is starting to become too much, anticipation at sinking into the hot water flooding her system.
Except. As she rounds the corner, she realizes— someone else is already in the hot tub.
They both remain frozen for a moment, taking each other in. The air seems to have grown heavier, electricity crackling in the space between them. She can feel it dancing over her skin, tingling in anticipation, and as the man’s eyes glide over her, she can’t tell if the heat that floods her is from the steam curling off of the water or from his fiery gaze.
Missandei’s suggestion immediately comes back to mind, and looking at the man in front of her, it’s hard to deny the pang of desire in her belly. Maybe hooking up with a handsome stranger at this wedding isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility for her yet.
