Flushing in embarrassment, Wei Ying hurries over to A-Yuan and crouches to place his hands on his shoulders. “A-Yuan, that’s enough,” he says. “Sorry, Lan Zhan, he used to go to a different bookstore where they host regular storytimes, I think he thinks you’re the designated storyteller for the day—”
He gets to his feet, holding A-Yuan at his hip, and glances up to look at Lan Zhan. It’s an awful, terrible, horrible mistake. This close, every detail of his face is utterly inescapable.
“Story time,” says A-Yuan, lower lip wobbling dangerously.
Wei Ying glances around, finding people staring curiously at the scene unfolding before them. “A-Yuan,” he hisses urgently. “We need to go. I’ll tell you a story on the way home, okay?”
“Do you really need to go?”
Wei Ying starts at Lan Zhan’s voice. He’s still looking steadily at him, an unreadable expression in his eyes.
(Seven years after running away from home to pursue a story that would expose one of the biggest media scandals in recent years, Wei Ying runs into the last person he’s expecting to see at a quaint, forgotten bookstore he hasn’t set foot in for a very long time.)

Summary
Wei Ying runs a veterinary practice next door to the music school where his son takes lessons. One day, when forced to work late, he asks A-Yuan's teachers if they wouldn't mind keeping him behind after his lesson until he can pick him up. It all seems to be sorted and Wei Ying is able to finish what he needs to without worrying too much.
Except, he's annoyed when instead of next door as arranged, A-Yuan and his teacher are in the waiting room of his practice, fawning over A-Yuan's pet rabbit. The feeling evaporates almost instantly, however, when he realises just how reluctant he is to say goodbye to the man.
But developing a crush on his son's absolute favourite teacher – especially when he's not even sure if those feelings would ever be reciprocated – has to be a recipe for disaster, right?

There's a long silence, long enough that Wei Wuxian starts to wonder if Lan Wangji is just going to ignore him. It would hardly be the first time.
"I don't always hate it," he finally says. Lan Wangji's large hand is a warm brand through the thin fabric of Wei Wuxian's robe. His thumb moves a little, sweeping a wide arc over the angle of Wei Wuxian's hipbone. He seems as if he's not done, so Wei Wuxian tries to be patient. "I don't hate it when it's you," Lan Wangji adds.
Lan Wangji has always been particular about touching and being touched. As usual, he's willing to break all of his rules for Wei Wuxian.

"... Goodness, Hanguang-Jun, you wear too many damned layers," Wei Wuxian tells him after a while. "Would it kill you to stop after a reasonable five?"
