Deep in the ruins of the abandoned Playtime Co. Factory, a sickness spreads across the toys, taking the lives of some and weakening many. Only a handful of the Bigger Bodies are mostly unaffected. While coming to terms with each other and banding together to survive, The Prototype finds secret so well hidden even he did not know. With this new found knowledge, can they make a cure before everyone dies?
{This is my excuse to write again and to write a fic about befriending The Prototype, because MOB isn't going to let us in game.}

Summary
Brought up in the mines, D-16 caught the attention of a particular researcher that used the illusion of family and freedom to give D-16 a "new life". The researcher adopted D-16 only to experiment on him and his abilities. These Projects were deemed "The Eva Projects", producing 13 genetically modified Cybertronians that were then classified to dangerous and were promptly exterminated, allegedly. Now with the facility destroyed, the research team dead, and the arrival of a newborn, Megatron must learn to life in this new life he made for himself. Will he cope?

It was supposed to be a normal patrol, drive in a 100 mile radius and return to base. He wasn't supposed to still be out here two and a half hours past his return time and wasn't suppose to call Ratchet for medical assistance. Which should have been better clarified for someone else and not himself. But when you find a recovery one beacon and a very injured Megatron you tend to not have a normal night.

Summary
This is the prequel to "A new age" Neither one has to be read before the other. This is mainly a two chapter prequel meant to clarify somethings that were mentioned in the story. Chapter 3: Questions and favors from "A new age" suggest that both Megatron and Optimus had a conversation with Primus that eventually turned into them reuniting. Chapter 1 is Megatron's conversation and then Optimus' conversation.
*(Set after the Cybertronian civil war, Megatron lives in an abandoned mine far away from any of the cities. He chooses to go by D-16 again, to see if he could restart everything. Unfortunately, the remnants of the war and Unicron's possession remain quite clear.)*
