The Smiling Critters cartoon has long since ended. The Critters have grown up without realizing the strangeness of their cartoon universe, or why it seems like reality warps to its own whim as their lives go on far past where they were meant to cease in the show.
They all begin to have nightmares of a factory, large, sprawling and bloody, yet these nightmares are fragmented and hard to understand. The Smiling Citters were made for to complete 2 goals: Raise the children kept in the Playcare, and to combine a toy body with the mind and soul of a person. Harley Sawyer lead the creation of the Smiling Citters through the Bigger Bodies Initiative. After many failed experiments, Dr. Sawyer made a breakthrough with 1170, the first BBI with intelligence. Soon after all the others were made, with 1188 being the final Smiling Critter created. For 4 years, with occasional problems, the BBI's did what they were created to do, but THoJ ruined all that on August 8th, 1995. Almost all employees were killed, putting an end to the torture that all of them faced for those 4 years.
10 years later an employee received a letter, asking for them to return and find the ones who remain. When they come back to the cured building they pause for a moment before entering, descending lower that ever, finding what they missed 10 years ago...
During those 10 years the all Smiling Critters suffered, all but Catnap, the one who made them suffer. On this fateful day, all the suffering will come to an end, and all will move onto the Afterlife.

Doey, the leader of Safe Haven and protector of the toys resisting the Prototype's tyranny, found an infant while on a supply run, who CatNap (seemingly) didn't find when taking the orphans underground for the Prototype's plans. He decided to take her in, much to the surprise of the others. Will Doey and the other toys be able to raise such an innocent soul? Or will the danger of their situation and their own inner demons get in the way?
