Summary
“I’ll stay in Hawkins… At first, I mean. It wouldn’t feel right, you know?” Mike said, while sipping the last remnants of his beer. All eyes were on him. Will felt his heart racing. Mike? Alone in Hawkins? Lucas and Max were still here for the time being, but still. A little thought started to nag at the back of Will’s mind.
“Are you sure, Mike?” Will asked, a worry in his voice, placing a hand where their knees met. Mike inhaled slightly, looking down at Will’s touch. “What are you gonna do in the meantime?” Lucas chimed in. “Don’t know. Maybe find a job, bridge the gap. Maybe apply to some college, I don’t know. Visit Nance in Boston? Get my driver’s license? I don’t know.”.
OR
Mike stays behind in Hawkins, not being able to move on from El's death, grief, guilt and sorrow accompanying him while Will moves to New York City to go to college and pursue his dreams.

Summary
....are you sure it was just a crush? ." Mike was speaking again, hesitantly, and he looked like he was asking the most horrifying thing his brain will allow.
Will felt a jolt, deep in his soul. He turned away and closed his eyes quickly to bite back some of the pain in his heart.
"Yeah I'm sure. It was nothing Mike, just a stupid coming of age crush - gone before it even had time to leave a mark." He swallowed, hoping Mike wouldn't hear the wobble in his voice.
Mike was still standing, frozen on the stairs so Will forced himself to half turn back again as he started to walk up. "Seriously Mike, don't even think about it any more, I don't."
And he walked out of the basement door into the hallway to join the others.
Mike was left on the stairs. Hope dead in his eyes. A single tear begging to be released. His heart aching in his chest. He was too late.

Set in the 18 month time skip between the final battle and graduation. Mostly from Mike's POV, but switches between him and Will at points.
Kinda slow burn, Mike's crushing realisation that he is in love with Will, followed by months of angst and miscommunication. Eventual smut and a whole lot of fluff.- Language:

Summary
It was easy for Will to ignore the feelings when Mike wasn't around. Back then, in California, or during those months when the boys weren't talking.
But now, Mike was everywhere. Sending him smiles over the kitchen table when they accidentally met in the morning. Asking how Will has been. Sitting next to him on the couch instead of far on the other side. Those small things made Will go crazy.
Because now, there was no distance stopping the reality, no silence telling him that pushing Mike away was fixing whatever was wrong with him. Now, the barrier holding everything together broke, filling every second of Will's life with feelings he could no longer hold back from himself. He couldn't hide them anymore, convince himself that it was normal for friends to feel that way.
Will Byers was desperately in love with Mike Wheeler.
OR
After the Byers return from California, Mike and Will don't talk anymore. But one day, something changes and suddenly, Mike is everywhere. The frequent accidental touches and looks grow into something surprisingly similar to their behaviour when they were young. And that confuses Will, because Mike is still with El, right?

Summary
It rolls, it rolls, it rolls, Will is clenching his hands into fists so tight his knuckles are white, bracing himself, preparing himself.
He’s so focused on steadying his breathing, on wrapping his heart in a guard of barbed wire before the blow lands, that he doesn’t quite see the number on the dice.
Mike lets out a shaky breath next to him. “It’s a seven.”
Will runs through the list in his head. Three times, before it clicks. He thinks he might throw up.
“C’mon, Wheeler. Don’t keep us waiting,” Max teases, and Will finally catches the satisfied gleam in her eyes.
A 20. He gets twenty minutes locked in a linen closet with Mike.
Two years ago, he would have been jumping for joy.
But Mike won’t even look at him.
