September 20th, 2022. Xxx xxxxx police station. I’m Detective Sneeg here with Thomas Innit-Wastaken under confession of the ‘Smiley killings’.
“So,” the other man spoke up, “Eight confirmed kills. That’s a hefty number for a seventeen year old.”
He spoke so casually, as if he was talking about the weather, or a sports game.“So do you not believe me?”
“Well, we wouldn’t be in this room if they didn’t,” the detective replied smoothly.
“I don’t care about what the police department or whatever thinks. I’m asking if you think I’m innocent,” Tommy urged.
There was a moment where the man thought of a reply, and then he said, “Looking at you now, I do not think you did it.”

Red Chaos was the name the world had bestowed upon him, and Dream had laughed as he dragged Tommy down against his chest in a rough sprawl back against the couch, squeezing him tight after their first official mission together.
Tommy had done good and Dream had been proud.

“Excuse me?”
Tommy perked up at the voice in confusion, looking down into his hand to make sure he still had the keys. No one should be up on the roof this late. No one should be on the roof at all. It was locked on the outside and he had the only key.
He turned around to the voice, curiosity getting the better of him. Annoyingly they were in the only corner of the roof that the lights didn’t hit, and he didn’t even bother to his annoyance when he rolled his eyes.
“Look mate, you can’t be up here.” He said. “I don’t know how, but you seriously need to lea-”
“Oh my Prime, Toms?”
Tommy froze when the stranger called out the name, and he felt all blood drain from his face when they decided to step out into the light.
He nearly puked at the sight of Wilbur Soot.
“Holy shit, it really is - ”
Tommy didn’t want to hear another word come out of Wilbur’s mouth, nor did he want to even be in that psychos fucking presence.
He doesn’t even know he’s running until he jumped to the next building over and bolted.

Summary
The city of L'manburg was beautiful, Tommy thought, despite all of it's many glaring flaws. It had a history in corrupt politicians and less than shiny districts that went overlooked. Heroes, sworn to protect the city, who had been arrested for secretly helping criminals. But Tommy still loved the city, deep down. He grew up here, in the heart of it all, watching heroes and supervillains fight. At the age of seventeen, he had already seen far too much of the violence L'manburg could offer. So, screw him, if when Wilbur offered him a chance to stay with his family, he decided to try living a peaceful life for once. Tommy Innes is the biggest man— gigantic, even— and he figured that maybe he deserved to know what being normal was.
So he had been naïve enough to think he could. He took Wilbur's offer, he put away his vigilante mask, and—
"Tommy," Phil had said. “I am also the hero named Zephyrus.”
The man that wanted to adopt him was also the man that wanted him in jail.
