Summary
He doesn’t remember seeing Mike that evening, or any evening recently. He’d always hear him, though.
Abandoning any attempts at sleep, Will stood from his bed and padded over to his desk. His abandoned still-life sketches only frustrated him, so he turned the page and started anew. Tracing familiar shapes and lines until Mike’s face stared right back at him.
Will’s cheeks colored as he ripped the page out and stuffed it into his desk drawer. Absolutely not. He was supposed to be moving on, leaving it all behind. Hawkins and Mike.
He blew gently on the fresh page to remove the stray pieces left from his haphazard removal of the previous page, and he tried again, instead drawing a small Will the Wise shooting a fireball at a small Mike the Brave.
Yeah, that felt deserved.

Summary
A pressure builds around him, and Will’s eyes fly open again, blood flows from his nose, a wail rips its way through his very core.
Since Vecna had died, Will hadn’t tried anything with his powers. He’d spoken to El about it one night in his room the first week they’d moved to New York. Not yet used to the rhythm of the city, the attention of the new friend Max had made, getting drunk in a dimly lit bar and kissing him, trying to move on, from Hawkins, from Mike.
El had told him about saving Max. Restarting her heart in the void. He swore he’d never tell. He hadn’t told her when he’d felt the shadows envelope him again.
The energy was different now; it was hurting. It was lost. Will knew those feelings well, and when the shadow had asked about human emotions, about loss and love, Will had supplied it with his feelings for Mike.
OR
Will's been having memory blackouts. The shadow has been talking to Mike. And Mike's terrified he's losing Will again.

Summary
The burning sensation that spread through his body. The feeling that nothing would ever be okay again until he was half a bottle in and could barely stand. The way his entire body would tense for hours and he wouldn't know if he was hungry or if he was thirsty until he was sick from neglecting those needs.
It's cold on the bathroom floor, or at least he thinks it is. His arms are covered in goosebumps but his shirt is drenched in sweat and tears.
He can't do this.

Summary
“Good?” Will asks as if he already knows the answer. Mike can hear it in his voice—the way the corners of his mouth are lifted into a small smile. He likes that he knows this about Will; can tell just from listening.
Mike nods, face buried into Will’s sweater. His cheeks are bright pink, but Will can’t see that from this angle. He doesn’t seem to think that anything’s wrong, either because his fingernails are still running over Mike’s head at the same, maddening pace; only now he keeps tugging at his curls in between before resuming, coaxing more of those unintentional noises from Mike’s throat. Little hums and whimpers that should be oh-so-embarrassing, but make Mike feel like he’s floating instead.
Very suddenly, Mike thinks about Will doing this in a completely different context. One that doesn’t have his face pressed into Will’s chest, but his yellow plaid pillowcase instead.
Or, Mike discovers that maybe, he wants to be taken care of sometimes, too.
