the soldier laughed, a cold, sad, empty laugh. tony frowned.
“like I said. memory wipe. not a fucking clue. the winter soldier is all I know.”
“…okay.”
the soldier could just make out him whispering a small “what the fuck” under his breath.
or; buckys mask doesn’t fall off during the fight on the bridge, so steve never recognises him. Instead on the helicarrier, bucky recognises steve. and instead of leaving him on the beach, he brings him to the avengers and gives himself in. angst and (eventually) healing ensue

“I-“ vi sighed, looking down “you and I both know that I’m not gonna get anything out of these meetings that I won’t get out of just living my life normally. I need to find powder, to know what happened to her, I have no clue where to start but you’re a police officer and have access to records and whatever and honestly, i would rather I spend any time that I’m forced to spend with you doing something productive, because if I have to look at your face for an hour every week while listening to you talk about something I don’t give a shit about one of us is walking out of this room in a coffin.”
caitlyn sighed, clearly refraining from responding with a snarky comment. she paused for a moment longer before responding with “.. I’ll help.“”

Summary
They told him his name was Samuel. He called himself Sam. Never out loud, never corrected them, but in the safety of his own thoughts, he referred to himself as Sam. He didn’t know why he shortened his name when no one else did, but he knew that it felt right. It was maybe the only thing that felt right. Not that anything else in his life felt wrong, but the fact that his name was Sam felt as solid as the concrete walls he lived within.
Regardless of what Sam thought, the British Men of Letters call him Samuel.

The worst part isn't the trial. As big a mockery of justice as it is. Sam knows the wigs and robes are British custom, though it doesn't stop them from looking ridiculous to his American eyes. But the porcelain masks over their faces are from an entirely different tradition. And holding the proceedings in Middle English is not part of any legal practice Sam knows of.

finding a story so captivating that you spend ~10 hours over the span of a day and half reading it with barely any breaks like a full on madman and then suddenly it’s over and your life is changed permanently and all you have is a small comment box in a bookmark that likely no one will ever read . god I love this so much , it’s awful and horrible and so depressing but man if it’s not exactly what my soul feeds off . the unreliable narrator aspect alone … it’s yummy

Summary
Successfully killing Lilith and keeping Dean out of Hell has the brothers ready for a good, old-fashioned, hunter-on-demon brawl. It's time to get back to the basics, back to the way things used to be, when monsters got ganked and that was the end of things. That said, they are not ready for a new kind of creature to appear in the middle of their fight, covered in blood and begging for mercy they aren't supposed to give.
Meanwhile, Castiel is panicking. He's been tortured senseless for four decades straight, and now he's been thrown down in front of two hunters. If he thought his brothers were bad... well, all angels knew how cruel hunters were... and Castiel has no idea how to convince them he doesn't need to be, in the shorter one's words, ganked.
