“You’re standing quite close to the edge, there. If you’re not careful one of those Magikarps might knock you right in.”
The sudden voice startles you, making you jolt as you gasp. It’s deep and gruff, certainly not a voice you recognize. When you turn around and peer upwards, you realize that there’s a figure standing on the street above, looking down at you near the waterway. It’s a man with greying hair, dressed in rather well-worn clothing and a jacket with a large fur collar. His left eye is shut, making you wonder if he has some sort of impairment. There were a lot of things you could have said. You could have told him off for startling you, asked him to leave you alone, or you may have even asked for his name. Instead, what comes out is a question.

Summary
One would assume renting out an isolated cabin by a lake would prove to give a more peaceful and non-eventful summertime experience. But when this specific lake appears to be the home of some sort of water creature, you'll find your summer vacation becoming much more interesting.
NOTE: As of August 13th, this story is on temporary hiatus again due to irl commitments and work. I'm working on the next chapters, just unsure when I can finish/post them!

Skin-tight red armor, leather straps that held your weapons, and a mask over your face with the infamous eye symbol. It all perfectly concealed your identity and intimidated any Hyrulean who saw you. Tauro’s head falls back and he breathes out a quiet, “oh.”

“Link,” you say aloud, “that’s a nice name.” Something in the back of your mind gives a small wriggle, like a memory that was trying to stand out. You had a feeling that you must have heard his name before, or perhaps you’d just met someone with the same name. Maybe someone in the nearby Hateno Village. But you had never been good at pairing names with faces, and you had never stayed in the town long enough to make any friends.
When you look up once more you see that he has a curious expression on his face, as if there’s a question he’d like to ask.

Link washes ashore near your cottage after a nasty fight at sea, and you take it upon yourself to tend to his wounds once he falls sick. Having only just moved to Hyrule, you know very little of its history, and next to nothing about the Calamity or the Upheaval. This makes Link interested in you- in someone who has no idea that he's the Hero of Hyrule.

He meets her gaze and looks into her eyes. The expectant look she gives him tugs on his heart.
"No, never," he lies through his teeth, "why?"

As you turn on your heel you’re cursing in your head, chastising yourself and feeling absolutely ridiculous for being so presumptive. Of course, him looking at you didn’t mean anything. You were ridiculous for assuming otherwise-
