“I knew you would!” Zoey cheers, before lunging for her in a blur and crashing into her chest, wrapping all four of her limbs around Mira’s chest the moment she hits her.
Mira looks down at Zoey with a smile. She makes sure to wait a long moment before she curls her long arms around Zoey’s shoulders, squeezing her tight, because she likes to pretend she’s too cool for this, and Zoey is sweet enough to let her.
She’s sweet enough to let Mira keep up this facade that her upbringing drilled into her.
A childhood alone, never fitting in—with a family too rich and too important to do silly things like hug their children—it sank into her, down to the bones.
It changed her.
So it’s hard now, surrounded by these two girls she loves, to ask for what she wants, what she needs.

Danny would like to say for the record that it was not his fault.
In fact, Danny would say that it was entirely Clockwork's fault. After all, he wouldn't even be in this situation if it wasn't for that cryptic time god.
But what was his fault was the fact that he kept helping.
He kept taking the cash from the assholes messing with the residents who lived in the area (and damn there were a lot of assholes near where he lived). He kept accepting their offers of food. So because of this new routine that kept him able to afford to rent out his shitty (and possibly illegal) apartment and the hunger pangs sufficiently satisfied, rumors grew.
tldr; after Clockwork dropped of Danny in Gotham he tries to make the best out of the situation which includes helping out some people. Except along the way that led to rumors that he was an up-and-coming crime boss. A rumor he was largely unaware of.

Mira moved like she was underwater. She had pulled the melody straight from memory, from Rumi’s humming, from the way the lyrics had clawed their way into her chest and embedded itself in her heart.

So Mira deals with it the only way she knows how, she dances, diving deep into her regret and emotions as she learns how to accept and forgive herself. Rumi and Zoey is there for her.

Zoey spent nearly an hour chatting with fans, signing albums, scribbling goofy doodles, exchanging inside jokes with longtime supporters, and even pausing to reassure a shy teen that her own art was amazing. Every time she laughed, Mira stole a fond glance, and Rumi beamed, soaking up the warm energy. Eventually, though, the mood soured. She remembered how back in high school Tina and her friends would corner her at her locker, mock her thrift-store clothes, call her a psycho artist, spread rumors she was violent and unhinged just for being weird. Those memories burned as she saw them now, Tina and her old clique, waltzing up with smug little grins that made her stomach turn.
“Wow,” Tina drawled. “Zoey the rapper now? Still making up nursery rhymes?”
Zoey didn’t miss a beat. “Cute you came all this way on your lunch break. What is it now, cashier at a store that sells broken dreams?”

Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
