Frisk disappointed everyone after all. Why would this be any different?

It’s a few blocks away that you think that maybe you shouldn’t be walking around unsupervised at nearly four in the morning. Sure, you’re a pretty independent kid. You mostly took care of yourself up until you fell into Mount Ebott, and then you traversed the whole of the underground by yourself (and with Chara, but no one else really knows they’re in your head).
You’re very independent, but that doesn't mean you’re not in danger out here.

Summary
They are trapped in a never-ending play, acting out the same roles over and over in the vague hopes that somehow, someday it will end. But it doesn't. So they deviate from the script, attempt to fulfill the purpose that brought them to the mountain in the first place in a last attempt to break free from the resets.
It doesn't work.
(But beneath their feet, the stage has begun to crack. After all, suicide is a pretty memorable thing, and emotions may just be a little bit stronger than memories.

Summary
Curiosity tugged at the back of your mind. What would happen if your soul was physically harmed?
Your soul was so bright, a pretty shade of aqua, its surface silky smooth. Perfect.
You were overtaken with the urge to hurt it, make your soul just as ugly and scarred as you yourself were. It didn’t seem fair that it should stay preserved while you were in shambles. You wanted to turn its color into an ugly gray. You needed to see if you could crush it from the inside out until its glow disappeared entirely.
Self hatred and curiosity, a match made in hell itself.

Summary
The human never killed, but they also never returned. Flowey never regained the power to RESET, but he also never lost his urge to try new things, no matter who it breaks in the process.
Denied the chance to get his old body back, Flowey decided to take one for himself. In the end, he settled on Sans.
Sans' friends come together to get him back. That turns out to be the easy part, because having your body hijacked by an evil flower isn't an experience anyone passes through unscathed in body or soul. The hard part is picking up the pieces of their friend and helping Sans fit himself back together.
Fortunately, he soon discovers that the people in his life aren't the sort of monsters to back down from a challenge.
