    Summary

Something cold and hard slides into his side. “Don’t move.” A voice says, startling Buck into compliance. Athena looks up, arm still around the girl who locks eyes with the man shoving a gun in Buck’s side. A hand grips Buck’s other shoulder, holding him in place.

“Buck.” Athena warns, like she’s afraid he’s going to try anything.

“I’m not moving.” Buck snaps out for both Athena and the gunman’s sake.

    Summary

"Were you aware that LuthorCorp was using Wayne technology in their illegal weapons programs?"

For the first time, Bruce looked genuinely surprised. "Those contracts were terminated."

"When? Before or after Luthor's crimes became public?"

Bruce was quiet for a long moment, his fingers drumming against the arm of his chair. "I'd have to check with our legal department about the specific timeline."

    "So you don't know?"

    Bruce was silent.

Gotham's drowning, Batman's bleeding, and a nosy reporter won't stop asking why.

Three years after the flood, a rot festers, born from the stragglers of Riddler's movement.

The Sons of Gotham, neo-Nazis with mysteriously deep pockets, rise from the grime. Bruce bleeds for a city that keeps sinking.

Enter Clark Kent: infuriatingly earnest, maddeningly handsome, and asking questions Bruce can't answer.

When threats grow too big for one city, Batman reluctantly teams up with Superman. Saving Gotham wasn't hard.

Letting someone help? Letting someone in? Easier said than done.

    Summary

Bruce never intended to be a father, but he also didn't expect to see himself reflected in a circus boy who watched his parents die. When a meta announces himself in Metropolis, things get far more complicated--and more dangerous--than Bruce could have anticipated.

    __

“I am one-hundred percent certain that Clark Kent of the Daily Planet is the civilian persona of the Metropolis metahuman, Superman.”

Dick stares blankly at the screens. Then, he shoos Bruce over and starts to click through the data, astonishment growing. “Oh my god,” he begins, eyes wide. Bruce grimaces and nods, wondering how best to console Dick for the mistake he made in setting up the interview today. Then, Dick’s face splits into a grin and he squeals. “Are you telling me that I met Superman today? That’s so cool!”

Bruce stares at his son, trying to piece together where, in the past few years, he went wrong. “You’re grounded.”

    Summary

Whenever someone reached for him - to lift the frost from his skin - he recoiled. To a frozen man, warm water burned.

And if warmth burnt him - well, Kal was the sun itself.

A blazing orb of heat, leaving third degree burns with each gold-flecked laugh that danced around his head, and each soft smile that made his chest ache with a longing he had never known before.

Kal’s brightness scorched him. It left blistered skin and branding scars, and turned every breath into a mouthful of volcanic ash and heat. And yet, Bruce ached for it - let the wax of his wings melt beneath the radiance, surrendering to the slow, sorrowful descent into the sea below.

    - - -

Bruce has been tearing himself apart, pieces scattered. Clark tries to pick them back up.

    Summary

The moment the words left his mouth, a heavy silence settled over the room. Everyone waited, maybe a long sigh or one of Bruce’s usual low, soft grunts. But nothing. Stillness. And then a sniffle… wait a minute, is he crying?

    or

After a difficult week, it was just one final blow that pushed Bruce to his breaking point. But thankfully, even in his darkest moments, he wasn’t alone.
