An is crumpled on the floor, seemingly unconscious. Curled up by one of the fallen pastry shelves, her black apron is snapped on both its arms. With displays of round pumpernickel loaves looming over her, she looks as if she were the victim of inanimate bread violence. Given her gluten intolerance, she kind of is.
Leave it to An to be tragically poetic. Kohane hates poetry. "I'm not going to kidnap you," she deadpans.
Without turning her head, An’s pupils dart to the corners of her eyes. "Come on, babe," she whines, "not even a little?"
Azusawa Kohane is the average miserable supervillain, committing crimes in the big city to pay for rent and lactose-free milk. Shiraishi An, her girlfriend and favourite Whole Foods employee, has committed the crime of stealing her heart and refusing to let it go.

“For a while,” Kohane repeats. “Will you go back downstairs later?”
The sound of the air conditioning flickers into a steady buzz. It doesn’t really do much—July nights are hot in the cloudy, humid way that rests heavy on the ground—but the sound pushes An to her side, lined up to Kohane’s body. “No,” she answers. “Probably not.”
The silence she’s met with is more than enough of a reply. Kohane wiggles her hand out of An’s hold, curls their arms together with even less space between them than before, and traces the creases of An’s palm. An’s cheek settles on top of Kohane’s head, and with Kohane herself fixed inside the curve of her neck and shoulder, it’s nothing short of perfect.
It's sort of a loser thing to sit out of your own birthday party. An is well aware of that, but if it keeps Kohane by her side, doing loser things is worth it.

Peeking in from outside the room is a girl. A girl with long blue hair that dips past her shoulders. A girl with glimmering, gold eyes, as if they’re where every afternoon star gathers to escape the burning heat.
A girl who’s unfairly pretty, and unfairly charming when she smiles at Kohane, and unfairly bright in every sense of the word.
But following her is a curled tail, and as Kohane pays more attention, she sees a pair of glinting horns protrude from the top of the girl’s head. Her tail holds the door open, digging into the doorknob with its sharp end. And barely visible from behind her clothes are the edges of wings. This girl is a dragon, living up on the mountain, separated from the forests far below her cavern.
This is the dragon Kohane was sent to kill.
To become a royal knight, Kohane is assigned to get rid of the dragon living up in the mountains. The only problem is that nobody warned her this dragon, who's more of a human than anything else, would be so strange, so unpredictable, and so unbelievably pretty.

Kohane is so overwhelmed that her words fly away. Her eyelids are so unbearably heavy that she considers letting them close. If she were to just shut her eyes…
An is very much a wife guy. Kohane learns this the hard way, which happens to be shifting through the dimensions of time and reality themselves to find out just how much of a wife guy An really is.

The smile fell from Shiho’s face. Now replaced with something far wrier, she shook her head. “No, Your Highness-” (‘ Just Kohane ,’ she helpfully supplied.) “Kohane,” Shiho quickly corrected. “It is more so that in your presence, Shiraishi-san cannot seem to do anything but trip over her own two feet.”

azusawa kohane who's an ace at her studies, calm and well-composed all the time, and respected by all of her peers and teachers has never let her guard down. not for anyone in particular, not ever. that's until shiraishi an—a rebel at most, the life of a party, and seen as the storm chasing away the calm—steps into the room, her presence igniting a flame of mutual-hatred as kohane's icy cold stare bores into her. they don't mix. they refuse to either way. but that doesn't stop the universe; fate from trying to get them to cross.
both of their friends sense the tension, give them advice, tell them to just avoid one another. they agree, however they sneak disgusted looks toward each other despite knowing it still counts as looking. as noticing each other. like their eyes were always meant to meet. but they wouldn't admit that, they'd leave the words unsaid. always—minds agreeing on one final thing: i hate you & i'll always show it as long as you're there.
OR taking place in highschool together; an and kohane are enemies who claim they hate each other & refuse to see eye-to-eye, but along the way, they adapt to one another. keyword: adapt. nothing less & nothing more. maybe.
