Summary
Regulus Black knew that, eventually, he would fail his parents. He wouldn't be able to do what they asked, but he hadn't imagined that it would be the same thing that got his brother disowned - the refusal to get engaged. The only way to stop it is to take permanent measures with someone else.
James Potter happens to be the only one willing, and he wonders how it ever got to this point.
James likes Regulus, and he's willing to do what needs to be done to protect him, including getting permanently engaged. He just didn't think he would actually fall in love with him.

MY FAVORITE FIC ON ALL OF AO3 !! ((-!&!&! To my undying despair, it was orphaned ueueue. A rather quick read, it's everything a Surgamy enthusiast could ever want, Amy is not watered down & the understanding of the various characters is excellent!! Very very beautiful writing style, Surge writes POETRY!!!!!
