Xingqiu had told Chongyun, all those years ago, most of the truth - that he’d gotten his Vision in the rainstorm that had pummelled Liyue Harbor while Chongyun had been recuperating from his disastrous Dragonspine expedition, that perhaps even the Archons had known not to separate Xingqiu and Chongyun in any way. It had been half a joke, but Chongyun had accepted it with a pleased smile.
He doesn’t know what it says about him that he remembers, with aching clarity, that moment where he’d been so coldly angry about not being able to protect Chongyun that he’d attracted the attention of the Archons themselves. Every time he touches his Vision, he gets a flash of that frigid, relentless part of himself.
And it feels ugly.

After yet another adventure gone wrong Bennet is found unconscious beneath an Abyss Mage by Xingqiu and Chongyun, who are out on a mission to find a demon resistant to the heat that always plagues Chongyun. The two rescue Bennett from the Mage and brings him back to Liyue Harbor, and when he wakes up they are quick to bond as they exchange stories while he recovers. When confronted with Bennett's bad luck for the first time Xingqiu gets curious, and Chongyun tags along as the three of them stumbles through several adventures and experiences, hoping to find a cure for bad luck and maybe even a heat-resistant evil spirit along the way too.
