    Summary

Kaz Brekker, as it happens, dies on a Tuesday like any other. Despite his objections, there are mourners and a funeral. (There is also vengeance, but he is not there to see it and likely would not mind the pound of flesh Inej carves away.)

Kazimir Vredevelt, as it happens, has a scar above his left ear and not a single memory to his name, but he makes the best apple pie this side of Olendaal. (And if he feels sometimes like someone's walking over his grave, he's sure that's just a bit of wind, and bakes another pie to reassure himself that's all it is.)

On grief, coming back wrong, and surviving a story in which you are the ghost.

    Summary

Following a terrible car accident three years ago, Kaz Brekker's wildly popular book series remains unfinished. The good people at Bloch & Sternbach have cut him a generous advance on the fourth and final book, but actually writing the damn thing has become the bane of Kaz's existence. As a way to help himself get focused and start again, he books himself an extended stay at a local hotel for a personal retreat.

At check-in, he meets the beautiful and charming desk agent Inej Ghafa, who immediately leaves an impression on him. The point of this trip is obviously not to find reasons to talk to her, but Kaz soon finds himself doing just that.

A story about finding creativity and connection again after a long period of grief and loss.

    Summary

It all spirals with a press conference. To be fair, Jeremy should have predicted this, and he blames himself for not being more on-top of the developing problem. The problem is that he’s been too distracted because he cannot stop saving every single thirst trap of Jean he finds on tiktok.

Jeremy rarely goes in the comment section of anything related to exy or his team—he knows firsthand just how ruthless sports fans can be. But he has been incurably curious in regards to Jean. With the effort from the social media team, he has gathered quite the fanbase, and Jeremy cannot even pretend that he is not a part of it. The clips of him warming up before a game, or rolling out his thigh, one leg hitched over a foam roller, or of him pulling up a sweaty practice jersey to wipe his face only to expose his newly-defined abs, or smiling on the court, or dousing his face with water have been doing things to Jeremy, and he can’t even be ashamed at how much of his feed has become Jean.

The problem has been the comment sections.

(Or, Jean Moreau versus the press.)

    Summary

It’s not worth pissing Kevin off to try and get out of this party. It’s not like Jean knows anyone in this city, anyways, and he’s going to have to spend too much time watching exy games with these people for the next several years. Kevin has begged him to try harder, that he needs Jean to play the part of an enthusiastic partner even though he despises the sport, that it’s what he needs to continue to get sponsorships and calls to the national team and whatever else he is aiming for.

Jean agreed to move. He agreed, and it’s not fair to Kevin for him to be retroactively angry at him for it. He’s right—Jean can paint anywhere, but Kevin doesn’t have a say in when and where he’s traded. They agreed to do this together, and part of doing it together means making sacrifices.

(Or: Jean is an artist, miserable, and has just moved to LA.)
