““Group 4” The teacher announced, “Subong, Semi, Minsu, Gyeongsu..” she paused looking towards the back of the classroom “..and Namgyu.”
Thanos’ heart did a violent flip. Next to him Semi’s head whipped around, her eyes wide with horror.
“Hey!” Thanos interrupted, “This is sabotage what the hell?”
“My decision is final, Subong. I suggest you get to work, for your GPA’s sake.”
Gyeongsu shook his head silently, “this cannot be happening right now…”.
Thanos forced himself to look towards the back corner of the classroom, while Semi and Minsu were talking about ideas. Namgyu was staring at the ceiling. He didn't even look angry about the arrangement, just deeply, painfully bored.”

Nam-gyu's last hope is to work with a bartender just like him: quiet and reserved.
Thanos and Nam-gyu end up working together as Pentagon's bartenders. Nam-gyu pretends to hate it. He doesn't realize it's the total opposite.

“However, the CT scan and the subsequent MRI revealed something concerning.” He turns a page. “We found evidence of a rare neurological conduction. The rapid onset suggests an aggressive form. Based on the progression we’re seeing in your brain tissue, particularly in the cerebral cortex and brainstem…”
The doctor continues speaking, but his words begin to lose their edges, slurring together into medical terminology that floats around Nam-gyu like falling snow. Strange, how the most important words of his life sound like they’re being spoken underwater, directed at someone else.
“...approximately three weeks, given the current rate of deterioration.”
Nam-gyu blinks. The doctor is looking at him expectantly, waiting for some sort of reaction to what he’s just said. Three weeks. The words finally penetrate through the fog.
“Three weeks until what?” Nam-gyu asks, though he already knows the answer.
The doctor’s expression softens slightly—professional sympathy, carefully measured.
“Until the condition reaches its terminal stage. I’m very sorry, Mr. Jang.”

He had lost his one chance, and he would never get it back.
They were cowards, Nam-gyu thought to himself as he struggled to untie his restraints, that's what they were.
The games end after Mingle, and Nam-gyu and Thanos find eachother again.

And when Nam-gyu pops up into his life completely out of nowhere and starts appearing everywhere for him to see— those thoughts get worse. Way worse. He ends up nearly acting out on those thoughts and immediately regrets it. It doesn't get easier though, the more he sees Nam-gyu the more he desires to act out on his wicked and sinful desires.

Nam-gyu's heart is beating harshly in his chest and he lifts shaky hands out of his pockets to feel his pulse.
