John's living outside of Colorado Springs, deep in the woods, and trying his best not to think about why he's there, taking his pills, deleting the emails that come from Atlantis, and deflecting Mitchell's attempts to befriend him. John's sense of loss is quiet but deep, and his loneliness is echoed in the remote, woodsy atmosphere and his empty house. That is until Rodney McKay shows up on his doorstep.
John and Rodney's relationship is unexpectedly tender here, both in its intimacy and its uncertainty, and I like the way the story slowly reveals what happened and how Rodney's arrival gives John back some hope for the future.

This comic is masterful. It's set in the moments leading up to Spock's return in TMP, and Bones makes the perfect narrator. His exhaustion, pain, and hope are evident in his voice, and the design is incredible. The layout, the shapes, the movement in and out of time, the glimpses of Jim and Spock's life together, the staggered placement of the text, and then the step of Spock's boot on the Enterprise's bridge, Jim's expression, and the way he not only forgets his own name, but can't really finish Spock's either. Transcendent.

Gavin Hayes had impressive aptitude scores, and a friendly smile, and eyes sharp as winter currents, taking in the station and remembering names and details with an ease that belied his causal charm. All things that transcended species boundaries and general integumentary inadequacies.

A sweet romance, with tentacles.
Sezin and Gavin are detectives in an integrated hirsa/human colony, and Sezin is adorable as he discovers he has a crush on his weird, fuzzy mammal of a partner and tries to come to terms with it.
The source material is unfamiliar to me but the author does such a great job describing these characters and their circumstances that I caught on fast and was immediately cheering for these two to get together. The banter is great, the pining and flirting are wonderful, and the drunken rambling is amazing.
I also really love how respectful Sezin is about Gavin's choices. Even with Sezin's biology wanting him to be possessive and claim Gavin for his own, Sezin always makes a point of reminding himself that they're from different cultures and he can't assume things and that he'll be fine with whatever Gavin wants, and I really appreciate that. It meant I got all the fun of that possessive behavior without the ensuing feeling of yikes.

Vids for book fandoms always involve a lot of creativity, and this vid overclocks it. It's an animatic, made by shooting successive sections of an illustrated storyboard with a soundtrack, and mar does an incredible job of creating images for the text, deftly portraying Murderbot's journey from a lost SecUnit with no understanding of its purpose to being a person who would do anything for its family. (Murderbot is agender, asexual, and prefers it/its pronouns.)
Content warnings (from vidder): blood, guns, scopophobia (fear of being stared at), slight body horror and injuries (toned down in comparison to the books). Contains spoilers for the series through Network Effect.
