Does not skimp on the friends part of friends-to-lovers, and I love it. The author shows them as friends, first, comfortable and familiar with each other--they've known each other a long time after all--and Zach can read Chris so well. It ramps up the pining deliciously, but at the same time means that what Zach wants might actually be within reach now that he has a new perspective on his interactions (FLIRTING) with Chris.

I love this fic despite not knowing a thing about golf. The author does a fantastic job of throwing in just enough detail to make me feel like I know how the sport works. Plus Jim's very good at it and upsets a lot of people, and it turns out that's exactly the right way to get my attention. It's a modern AU, which means Spock's not an alien, but he's still 100% Spock.

"So, Detective..." Johnson trails off, his lips twitching as he tries to pronounce the first name. Finally, he settles on, "Spock? That right?"
"Yes," Spock replies, leaning back in the guest chair. He wants to sit up straight, but he's been here, looking at Johnson not looking at him, for almost fifteen minutes and it's clear that Johnson wants him to be nervous. Spock smiles, instead. "Don't worry about my first name; a lot of humans can't manage it."

Oh my god, I love this so much! Jim's such an oblivious dummy, but still totally up for any, like, experimental, team-building exercises with Spock, like, say, kissing or whatever. Jim's voice--mental and otherwise--is hilarious, and I love the sweet feelings between him and Spock, especially the descriptions of their mental link.
And Bones. Bones is majestic. He is so brave and smart and beautiful for putting up with these two. I mean:
“Fine,” Jim said and stood up, “but Bones, can you believe, I kissed Spock –“
“I actually can,” Bones said. “See you later.”
