“Merlin!” His shoulders jumped slightly as he was yanked out of his train of thought by a second call of his name. His eyes moved to look at Arthur to his right, and he tilted his head.
“What, Arthur?” He sighed. The King was frowning in bemusement as he stared at Merlin’s arm—the side of his shoulder specifically.
“Why’ve you got flowers on your shirt?”
Merlin faltered, a light heat rising to his cheeks as he realized what Arthur was referring to. He hadn’t realized he’d grabbed that shirt! He had been so tired…
“I, ah,” he cleared his throat before looking away, trying to appear nonchalant. “I like flowers.”

Or, more accurately, a coping mechanism.
Embroidery.
Whenever he feels anxious, doubtful, insecure, homesick, angry, even happy or excited, lovestruck… He grabs the needle and thread, and carefully—meticulously—sews his emotions into his clothes. Clothes, of course, that he never wears! His secret would not be so secret, after all!
Until one day, tired and rushing, he grabs a shirt without looking, and Arthur sees them.

Welcome to most AU to ever AU (some weird bastard hybrid of high fantasy and sci-fi).
Alicent comes from the most patriarchal nonsense world imaginable, and her planet (Westeros) began a war with Rhaenyra’s planet (Valyria) because Criston Cole is a homophobic ass.
Following the war’s end, Rhaenyra realizes during treaty negotiations that Alicent (Cole’s fourth wife) is living her worst married life, and so demands that Alicent remain on Valyria as a sign of goodwill.
Alicent is scared out of her mind (Rhaenyra gained a terrifying reputation during the war) and traumatized beyond belief.
Rhaenyra is determined to show Alicent that she isn’t a threat (while also dealing with her own baggage on the side).In short, this is a hurt/comfort, eventual romance slow burn wherein Alicent finally gets some therapy and Rhaenyra just wants to hug her and wrap her up in a warm blanket (as do we all).
They will eventually fall in love.

Summary
An AU of the season 4 finale, wherein Arthur refuses to abandon his castle during Morgana's seige, and Merlin refuses to use magic to take away Arthur's will, so they're at an impasse.
Rather than break his moral code to bewitch Arthur, Merlin decides to break his secrecy. If Arthur doesn't want to leave his Castle... fine. They won't. Merlin will just have to take it back for him... and all that entails.
