“You were what?!” Mei and MK exploded, the monkey looking confused, while Mei still looked enraged.
“You mean to tell me that you’ve been sitting here acting like an elementary school boy picking on their crush by being a complete asshole to them?!”
“He used to brush me off before that entire journey!” defended the dark furred simian as he ducked under a blast of green fire.
“That’s not the point, Macaque!” stressed MK.
(Or, five times Macaque 'flirted' with Wukong and one time they spoke about their feelings.)

Nezha is many things, and he’s also contradictory to said things. He’s wild, unrefined, and unbowing like a mountain. A force borne of the true flames of Samadhi itself. Yet, Ao Bing finds that he's so delicate, so untruthful of his feelings, and so insecure of his own flesh. Ao Bing, in his many years surrounded by only fish, Shen Gongbao, and scaly dragons, personally thinks Nezha is very beautiful.
If only he'd see that beauty for himself.

Wukong finds him the next night. He’s resting on a thick branch, shrouded in darkness.
“You didn’t show up,” Wukong points out from the bottom of the tree, and there’s nothing behind it. For such a loaded sentence, he delivers it like a simple observation.
Macaque scoffs, and it wobbles. He looks down at the monkey. The black eye is still there. “Didn’t feel like it.” It’s not a lie, technically.
Wukong frowns. “I waited for hours. You could’ve sent a heads up.”
“Why the fuck is your eye not fixed?”
