You’re dismissed.” His father looked away from him and back at his computer monitor and something stirring inside him wanted to smash everything in the room and scream until someone finally listened to him. He tempered it down and muttered out a Yes, Father from between clenched teeth. He slipped out the door and up the stairs as his feelings bubbled up inside him and he felt like he was reaching a boiling point and there was nothing he could do because his father was turning the stove up hotter and hotter. His face burned with frustration as he shut the door to his room with more force than usual.
Or: Chat Noir has a bad day; Ladybug lets him talk about it.

Adrien had found out the hard way that his father was Hawkmoth and when that had happened, something in him had snapped. It was like the final string was cut by some sick and twisted person and Adrien was no more. There was only Chat Noir, a homeless cat that shut himself up in the abandoned chateau that everyone in Paris knew about.
Ladybug had tried to bring him back. She had even led a search team of people to find Adrien to no avail. And poor, sweet, Marinette had put up ads and signs to find her dear friend, Adrien Agreste. Eventually, everyone gave up on him. He knew they would. Why would anyone keep searching for a villain’s son? After all, he must be just as corrupted.
