Will starts a habit of sleeping in Mike's room.
Without a word, Mike reaches out and lightly grabs Will's jaw. He tilts his head up, down, side to side, studying every angle. There's no way he can't feel Will's pulse beating fast and hard against his hand, but either way, he doesn't comment on it.
"Hmm", sneaks out of Mike's mouth.
"Hmm?", Will can only parrot back.
Now he studies Will's eyes, trying to commit their shape and hue to memory - trying to erase memories of Will's possessed dark, clouded eyes. His Will, but not.
Will softens in his grasp and opens himself to Mike's gaze, no longer trying to steel himself from the moment, hide himself away. Just present, just here.
And something in Mike softens, too.
"There you are," Mike whispers.
This is hungry work.

“No.” The word escapes Mike’s lips, and it’s barely a whisper. Tears blur his vision, and he turns back around to El, trembling. “N-no, that… that can’t be right… Will… he-he can’t be gone, El; he can’t be dead—”
“Oh, Mike,” El whispers. She reaches up, wiping the tears from Mike’s eyes, and there’s a look on her face—so tender and so, so kind. “Isn’t this what you wanted?”
Her words hit like a bucket of ice water being dumped on him, and Mike recoils, staring at his girlfriend—no, wait, his wife—in horror. “W-what? How… how could you say that, El? How could you say that?!”

It's like Will's body moves before he can even process what he’s moving to, like his senses know when he’s near and pull him there before he can realize what he’s doing. His former well gripped want is bleeding though his fingers. He feels as if everyone can see it in the way he blinks, can smell the desire pooling out of his pores.
“—definitely overreacting, I mean, he’s as oblivious as they come!” Robin’s voice cuts through his thoughts.
“I don't know... I think even Steve could have picked up on what was going on in my head,” he squeezes his eyes shut at the onslaught of aftershock anxiety rushing back at the memory.
“I whimpered, Robin!” he pulls his hands to cover his face, to try to ground himself.
“You’re probably right... Steve could have picked up on what was going on,” she’s facing him on the couch, her knees leaning further to press up against his legs as she moves further into his space. “But Mike wouldn’t know sexual electricity if it was shooting from his own dick.”
OR: Will's been in love with Mike Wheeler since before he can remember, it was bound to slip out at some point.

Mike Wheeler is a coward, he always has been. No matter what anyone says, no matter what anyone does, Mike Wheeler has and always will be a coward. He hides behind Eleven, a girl he doesn't even love, because he's to scared to admit his feeling for his best friend. He writes letters to said best friend but never sends them because he's to scared to see their reaction. He avoided Will because he was scared that he would figure it out somehow. He got possessed by Vecna because he was scared of his feeling.
Every brave act he does is a product of adrenaline, he's a coward. It's worse when El breaks up with him, because now he can't hide. It's worse when Dustin spills that he jumped off of the quarry, because now the Party won't leave him alone. And it's worse when Will confronts him at said Quarry because he was stupid and scared enough to run. Now what does he say? Does he tell the truth? Or does he lie?

'Nooo don't kill yourself you're so sexy, aha'
Jokes aside, this was amazing. Like really, really amazing. That first chapter kind of reminded me of myself, in a way. The poeticness, and the tranquil promise of death, of nothingness... It's always so calm, for some reason. Mike is just relatable in this, it all just feels so sad, so familiar, and very sweet at the end. The frustration, the anger, I get it, all too well.
The way Mike explains things, and the way he doesn't, is just so goddamn well done. You can feel the pure fear, disgust, and ahhh I don't even know how to describe it. Damn! I am so weak for just plain compassion and support. I want to hug them and smush them like a stress ballIf I could give double, triple, quadruple, quintuple, and I don't know the other words for that but I want to shower this fic in kudos so much, I freaking would.

Will huffed, cheeks burning. Will’s eyes darted involuntarily to the centre of the room. Max and El were squished together on an armchair. Mike was sprawled on the carpet with Dustin and Lucas, waving his arms around dramatically as he argued about which Star Wars film was objectively the best. His hair was a mess. His cheeks were flushed. He was smiling.
And Will felt that stupid expanding warmth in his chest that he couldn’t get rid of no matter how hard he tried.

Post-Vecna, Will and Robin continue to bond. Robin knows Will likes Mike. Mike thinks Will likes Robin.
One jealousy spiral, several misunderstandings, and a lot of pining later… they finally kiss.

“I want to take care of—” Will mumbles, fumbling for gauze and bandages, his focus wavering. Mike notices the flush creeping up Will’s cheeks, bright and vivid against his otherwise pale, tired skin. And it warms something inside Mike, just a little, because Will wants to take care of him.
