The year is 1996. It's been one year since the Hour of Joy. Playtime Co is struggling hard after the loss of their largest location. Hemorrhaging money, the company has one last shot to keep themselves afloat: relaunch one of their most beloved yet controversial toylines, the Smiling Critters, and a new cartoon created with the help of some fancy technology salvaged from the Michigan factory.
Very much copying Blue's Clues, the CRITTERIFFIC ADVENTURES series follows a live action host named Ben set in an animated world, as he plays, learns, and loves with the Smiling Critters. The world of the cartoon is alive, thanks to advanced artificial intelligence technology and neural imaging for two of the Critters. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows, as the dark forces in the original factory may very well be conspiring to take down Playtime Co for good...

It turns out that after death there's a bit more that awaits the SmillingCritters, a place they can call home after they were pulled out of Critter Valley long ago to be put into those larger bodies they were surprised to find themselves back to their original homes, original bodies but with the added different that they could no longer die yet they could still feel pain, most of the critters try their best to forget the hell they’ve been through and return to a somewhat normal life, all until the last of the critters arrived at the valley after he had made a certain deal with a deity to offer him a second chance to earn their forgiveness, Will the other critters forgive him for his sins? Or will they make him wish he chose the option of eternal damnation? Only time will tell.

Being a sentient cartoon character isn't always easy. You have a role you have to play. And you get no say in many things. But having others by your side makes things easier. At least that's how DogDay sees it. And with the introduction of Catnap things had just been better.

The charm felt familiar in Little Ghost's hands. Made sense really, as it wasn't that differently shaped from a Hallownest Seal. But this felt... different. They didn't know what, but they felt something echo in the back of their mind when they looked at it. Either way, it was still probably a bad idea to wear it, it took 5 charm notches - according to sly - and did nothing. But, as they heard the sound of the Mantis Warriors in the distance, the spores from the mushrooms irritating the void inside them, they thought, what's the worst that can happen? They've lost to these lords over and over again, they have to try something different, and if this didn't work then they could take another defeat. They put it on.
Little Ghost is about the reunite with an old - friend isn't the word - stranger they once glanced at before being cast away, and he seems to be in quite the predicament. Maybe he can help Ghost on their quest to save Hallownest, even if his last attempt was less than successful.
Take a ride through this story of familial bonding and trauma as my first ever Fanfic! This fic was inspired by Brennustheskeleton on Tumblr's PK charm AU who so graciously let me use the concept for my own fic.

Catnap knew that he didn't belong in this happy bunch of friends they call the "Smiling Critters." Though he considers them all friends, most of them seem to think of him as too "scary and creepy." His words are often too confusing for anyone to really understand what he's trying to say. He freaks everyone out whenever they catch him in their sight. But above all else, he's too hard to approach. No one really knows what he's thinking. They don't know the first thing about him and his true intentions. ...But he was never trying to be part of any of this. He would love to call them all his friends if they would let him. And yet, none of them are willing to try.
However... There existed one critter he could reliably call his "friend." One night, Catnap sits beside his best companion, Dogday. The two talk for a while until the cat says "I hope that one day, I'll be like the rest of you." Not expecting much out of the other through this one moment of weakness, Catnap sits in silence. ...And he's surprised when he hears: "Why don't I help you?" The dog suggests.
With his attention suddenly grabbed, he looks at him. Could his dream come true that easily?

Summary
Narinder is used to the Lamb and their strange quirks. He is used to watching the Lamb do chores, gamble away their money in Knucklebones, fish, and other inane activities. Even being unable to read the Lamb's mind, The One Who Waits is confident that he knows the Lamb.
Until he realizes he doesn't.
The Lamb is suddenly very blank-faced, almost like a canvas. This is different than what he knows of them-- except when they are around their Followers. For some reason-- some strange, inexplicable reason-- the Lamb is only different around him.
Narinder must now balance dealing with the Lamb's bewildering behavior, becoming accustomed to mortal life, a stupid task from the Mystic Seller to fetch his siblings... and the whispers of strange happenings all around the cult-- all seemingly tied to a prophecy that rears its ugly head in his dreams that he cannot make heads nor tails of.
