Dennis Whitaker was guilty.
To say he had not been thinking about his boss would be a lie. In fact, it was becoming a bit of an issue. Since Pittfest, particularly Robby’s brief moment of silent reflection, the touchy, rough hands that had guided him through his first day had been no longer.
Back in Nebraska, his parents never hugged him the way they did his brothers. So sure, he was definitely a bit touch-starved, but it was understandable; he was the more soft-spoken of the bunch. The lack of affection seemed more of an attempt to hopefully man him up the way a midwestern, God-fearing, farm boy was meant to be than a lack of love.
