Zayn sighed and turned slowly, looking in the direction that Mr Murs had pointed. Sat at a table, with his arms folded as he gazed out of the window – which just so happened to have a sudden shaft of sunlight shining through to surround him, making him appear angelic in the watery winter beams – was a solid-looking lad. As though hearing his name, he turned to face Zayn, a curious and seemingly hopeful expression on his face. Zayn took a deep breath and manoeuvred his way through the tables and chairs, shrugging out of his bag and dropping it carefully to the floor as he took his seat.
“Hi,” said Liam, giving him a friendly smile.
“Hi…” Zayn replied, feeling like his insides had melted into goo at the simple word.

“Could you check that?”, Eddie called from the kitchen. He had insisted to make something for them tonight instead of ordering their usual pizza and ice cream dinner.
“Sure”, Buck replied and snatched the phone off the coffee table. He knew the pass code – it was the day Eddie had started working at the 118. There was no new text, just a message from his phone provider, but an earlier conversation was still opened. Before Buck could place the phone back on the table, something caught his eye. Tommy groaned and turned to the other side, away from the voice that tried to rip him from his tenderest of slumbers. Literally nothing had ever sounded less appealing than waking up right now, not even Evan telling him that it was his turn to change the twins’ diapers. Whatever that voice said, he’d just stay here, in his cozy, warm cocoon he’d made himself with his sheets and keep sleeping.
Sleeping…

“You’re forcing my hand here, babe.”
Before Tommy’s sleep-addled brain could even begin to try and make sense of the voice, (that grew more and more familiar with every word…) he suddenly felt a forceful push against his back. With a startled yelp, his eyes snapping wide open, he felt himself move over the edge of the mattress and land hard on the ground with a thud.

Howie laughs. "A nickname that happened after you left."
"Oh," Tommy says. "Where did it come from?"
Adorable blue-eyed guy grins. "I've known the guy for seven years and he still won't tell us."
Tommy laughs. "Okay then. Anyway, I'm Tommy Kinard and this is my daughter, Leah. We're here for a tour."

“Why wouldn’t I?” Eddie asked. “You already made the food. I don’t want it rotting in my trunk.”
Buck laughed, “Yeah, that would smell. But we could have thrown it out. I don’t want to force people to do things just because I want to.”
Eddie started pointedly at the clipboard sitting on the dashboard in front of him.
“That’s different!” Buck said defensively. “The clipboard is to make sure we all make it to the midwest in one piece. The roads can be treacherous.”
“We’re on the interstate, Buck,” Chris jumped in, “not offroading through the Misty Mountains.”
10 days. 5 cars. 1200 miles between the beaches of LA and the point where the Mississippi snakes through St. Paul Minnesota. The extended 118 family take a roadtrip to visit Bobby’s grave and hopefully find a way to heal along the way
