When you take a camping trip into the woods to get away the from the stress of work, you never thought you'd end up stabbing a guy, and you definitely didn't think he'd end up stalking you for months after. The biggest surprises, though, happen after you come home to find him shirtless and bleeding out in your kitchen, unbothered and munching away on what was *going* to be your dinner that night.

Reader meets Toby in the woods, stabs him in a fight, runs away and gets stalked for months. Toby kills a robber, decides maaaayybe he doesn't want to kill Reader after all, and moves in after more stalking. Happy soft ending bc I'm a bitch and I want him to smile damnit.

Summary
It's the 5th anniversary of Meng Yao's death, and Lan Xichen finally opens the chest of things he'd collected from his lover over the years. His sword lays inside, dull and dusty, and for a moment he considers using it to take his own life.
He remembers the look on Yao's face when he pushed him away; Pain, longing, regret.
Jin Guangyao had wanted him to live, in the end, and Xichen would, even if it meant pushing through the pain of living without his lover. Jin Guangyao was dead, but he'd made sure Lan Xichen didn't die with him. No matter how badly he wanted to, he wouldn't throw away the last chance his lover gave him. Yao had kept him alive for a reason, and someday he'd get the chance to ask him why, but for now he'd keep himself alive until his time came naturally.
