Which brings Eddie to his current predicament: drowning in love and unable to do a thing about it, all while being subjected to his criminally attractive best friend sauntering around sans a shirt at every hour of the goddamn day.
Morning toothbrushing? Shirtless. After school video games? Shirtless. Reading on the couch? Shirtless. Weeding the garden in LA summer sunshine? Shirtless and sweaty. Asleep half a foot of bedspace away from Eddie? There aren’t even pants involved. Existing day-to-day seems to have become a topless event where Buck is concerned, because Eddie has apparently racked up enough overdue penance for several lifetimes.

Eddie blinks at her, stomach dropping like a body from a ladder truck.
She’s stood on his front steps, dead calm when she asks him this the very second he opens the door. Eddie doesn’t know why he feels caught red-handed, doing something he only sometimes wonders about doing.
He hasn’t, though. Done—that. Done anything.
He tries to convey this with a genuinely baffled, “What?”

Their sides are already all but pressed together, thanks to the relatively narrow space the bed provides, but Will nudges his thigh into Mike’s too, just to complete the line. “Just what?”
Mike sighs again, this time more frustrated than dejected. “Well, it’s weird, right?” he asks, rhetorically Will assumes, “because we’ve been obsessing for ages over how to save the world and get back to normal, but now that it’s actually happened, I’m realizing that none of us ever talked about what getting back to normal means.”
“Ah.” Will smiles to himself a little. “You want a plan.”the world stops ending. mike has some feelings about it.

Summary
The point is: Eddie had been crushed by mud and debris, and Buck (because he’s Buck) had dug through the mud until his fingers were bleeding (stop looking at him like that, Bobby) to get to him, hauling him out of the ground like one of those Harry Potter plants, only Eddie hadn’t been screaming, he’d been silent, and Buck’s chest felt like it was caving in.
Eddie gets crushed by a mudslide & confesses undying love, because why not?

“Oh.” Mike’s expression clears, and he grins. “Well, like I said, you’re a catch, so I don’t think you’d need to worry about putting people off or something. And all of that stuff is way easier than it sounds, seriously.”
Will makes a face. “That can’t be true.”
“I’m serious!” Mike says, laughing a little. “Here, we can practice.” He shifts on the bed, arranging his legs beneath him and sitting up a little straighter, running a casual hand through his hair. “Pretend I’m a guy you like.”
Practice makes perfect, especially when the person you're practicing with is your best friend.

Right now it’s so short and taught and strong that Will can’t imagine resisting it. So really, it was never a matter of if he would. Just when. When will he fold? When will he let go and let himself follow Mike into the water?
He dares to glance down at his knees, where he can see Mike’s fingers peeking out from behind his calves (as if he needed that visual reminder that they’re touching), and then back up to meet Mike’s expectant gaze.
He’s going to do it. He’s such a fucking idiot.

It was surprisingly easy, once the alcohol hit his bloodstream, to write it out. To put himself in the mindset of someone who loved Buck and couldn’t keep it inside anymore.Eddie Diaz was living in El Paso—miles away from his best friend who needed him, struggling to cross the invisible distance his son was keeping from him.
There was no quick fix for either—but he was working on it. And in the meantime, he could do something to help Buck feel better from afar.

“So you like him?” Max asks, her screen shaking a little as she reaches for something outside Mike’s range of view.
Mike frowns at the FaceTime screen, hugging his pillow to his chest and squirming further under his blankets. “He’s nice,” he says petulantly, and Max’s face pops back into view to give him an unimpressed look. “He’s a good roommate.”
“That’s not what I meant and you know it,” Max says, in her typical Max tone, equal parts vehemence and poorly disguised fondness. “I personally witnessed you DM this guy after like five seconds of looking at his bio post after weeks of agonizing over your roommate selection.”
Mike winces, glancing around the empty dorm in case Will has somehow materialized in the room in the past thirty seconds without him noticing. “That’s not what happened,” he says, though it’s not not what happened, “I liked his vibe.”

Summary
This is what Mike’s been thinking about, in between worrying whether they’re all going to die, which definitely suggests that his priorities are a little out of whack, but he can’t help it. The past year has been bizarre, to put it lightly, but he thought that one of the better things to come out of it is that he and Will are friends again, like, real, close friends. He’s wondered, once or twice, in the midst of his own relationship’s crumbling status, whether Will has ever had any romantic entanglements, whether he plans to. Previously, Mike had ruled it out, because he thought if Will was interested in someone that he’d tell him about it, or at least not hide it. But Robin mentioned a date, and Will’s the only guy she’s been around lately except for Steve, who’s pretty obviously still hung up on Nancy (ew), so, like, what else is Mike supposed to think?
Will has made a new friend. Mike feels normal about it, really.

Mike points to him enthusiastically. “Thank you, Lucas.”
Dustin looks between the two of them, his eyes narrowed.
“...Would we?”
“Sure,” Mike concludes. “He’s attractive. That’s not a weird thing to think.”
Will just barely resists the urge to bang his head against the table. He feels Dustin’s eyes glued to his burning face, and sinks even further down his chair.
In which Mike tells Spider-Man that he has a crush on his best friend, and Will jumps to some very wrong conclusions.
