When he was a breath away, he lifted a long slender hand that had Elise trembling in anticipation. His finger brushed against the edge of her mark and Elise grasped at the current that ran through her entire being originating from where their skin met. The bond thrummed between them, blurring the lines of where Solas ended and Elise began.

Summary
With the series of bad calls throughout her life, Sutton Calloway made one good call when she became a 9-1-1 dispatcher in Los Angeles. So when she finds herself going on a blind date with flirtatious firefighter Evan Buckley, she thought he was another good call that she made.
Except that all went up in flames (metaphorically) when the date ended horribly.
But with her sister’s wedding on the horizon, Sutton needs a date after spilling a little white lie to her family, forcing her to call in a favor from her least favorite firefighter of Station 118. Thankfully, it’s just one weekend they have to fake their attraction for one another. Though waking up beside him in bed wasn’t how it was supposed to end.
So with their lives becoming more intertwined than ever, they come up with a truce: the two would keep pretending to be a couple in front of her family for a little bit longer while starting a friendship…with benefits.
Then word gets around their jobs about this so-called new romance, and the two just hope they can continue with the act for as long as they can, for they’d rather not get caught in the crossfire of consequences on both ends. Especially if things get…too complicated.

Which should have been the main stressor of her shit year, but she also had a job transfer, a major breakup, and a continuing string of bad luck. Her sister worked as a nurse in L.A and offered Jane her spare room while she got settled in the city and while she got over her ex, Eric. With an almost comical series of unfortunate events, however, she keeps meeting the same group of firefighters, and one of them may even make her shit year a little bit better.
