Summary
With the series of bad calls throughout her life, Sutton Calloway made one good call when she became a 9-1-1 dispatcher in Los Angeles. So when she finds herself going on a blind date with flirtatious firefighter Evan Buckley, she thought he was another good call that she made.
Except that all went up in flames (metaphorically) when the date ended horribly.
But with her sister’s wedding on the horizon, Sutton needs a date after spilling a little white lie to her family, forcing her to call in a favor from her least favorite firefighter of Station 118. Thankfully, it’s just one weekend they have to fake their attraction for one another. Though waking up beside him in bed wasn’t how it was supposed to end.
So with their lives becoming more intertwined than ever, they come up with a truce: the two would keep pretending to be a couple in front of her family for a little bit longer while starting a friendship…with benefits.
Then word gets around their jobs about this so-called new romance, and the two just hope they can continue with the act for as long as they can, for they’d rather not get caught in the crossfire of consequences on both ends. Especially if things get…too complicated.

Electricity crackled around them, close enough the hair on Lucanis's arms and neck lifted. Lightning struck the ground, hitting the guards and Calivan in turn. First one round, then another, and a third. The smell of burnt flesh reached his nose and electricity danced on the puddles of standing water that dotted the floor.
Spite appeared in his mirror form on the other side of her. He leaned forward, head tilted as if studying her. "Smells of lavender and lightning," he purred. "Storm beneath the skin." He leaned closer, as if sniffing her. "I LIKE her."
Lucanis tried to ignore him, telling himself it was probably better the demon liked her than the alternative.
