Nagi cranes his neck as much as he can without actually getting up to scan the room, and as he tilts his head backward, at the ceiling, he remembers to ask, "Where's Reo?"
Ba-ya blinks slowly at him. She slides something onto the desk between them, but before Nagi can get a good look, she speaks and Nagi hears her and then he isn't thinking of anything at all.
"Reo died yesterday."

The concept of soulmates had long been ripped out of the pages of his dictionary. There was no such thing—a idiotic myth that society had conjured in the hopes of finding “the one” for them. A Mikage had no time to waste on such fantastical nonsense. His parents made sure to drill it into him.
The dead, withered flowers wrapped limply around his parents' wrists were a constant reminder of the fate his soulmate would one day face. Perhaps, it was at that realization that Little Reo decided to hide the little sprout growing from his right wrist. Not a single soul must know.

Summary
If Nagi hadn’t shown up to school today, he would be waiting patiently for Reo to come home, either lying in Reo’s bed or sitting at his desk. As long as Nagi’s around, Reo always has someone to return to, someone waiting for him.
No matter what changes this year —this precipice of a year— Reo will survive it. He has Nagi, after all.
Everyone knows of Mikage Reo. Brilliant, handsome, and well-mannered, he’s practically a prince in the eyes of his classmates.
If only he didn’t have such a peculiar habit of talking to himself.

Two years ago, the tragic death of Mikage Reo caused a huge public uproar and the closing down of Mikage Corp. However, no one is more affected than Nagi Seishiro, the former star forward of the football team, who is still stubbornly and hopelessly awaiting the return of Reo. Even if Nagi knows that his lover has been long gone.
