Max took a moment to really look at the dragon. He’d already taken note of the two-toned hair with horns of different colors atop his head. Now, he saw that he had a pair of super cute, pointed ears. And there were no wings sprouting from his back. Ah, so Max hadn’t missed them earlier! They hadn’t been there. His gaze fell to the dragon’s tail. Black scales shined ominously on top, and lovely yellow ones beneath– almost like a glimmer of hope in the darkness. Stunning.
Max was just thinking out loud when he muttered, “You really are a dragon… that’s so…”
The dragon boy flinched then shut his eyes, prepared for the worst. They sprang open again once the shouting began.
“Cool!” Max yelled. He balled his hands into fists and hurried closer to the dragon. Max was far too excited to contain a single thought. “Wow, look at your tail! Do you have fangs? Can I see them? What about claws? Where’d your wings go? Do you like flying? Oh, your eyes are even nicer than I thought they were! They, like, swirl with magic power! Wow!”
“I’m Max. Are you all right, um…?”
“Rayne.”
