Of course, that belief is only furthered by the mate mark he bears of his mate’s first words to him, something only supernatural creatures and their occasional human mates are supposed to have. Desperate to find his mate and carry on his mother’s work after her death, Stiles does everything in his power to unite his town, even if that means enduring dinners with Derek Hale, who hates him and refuses to speak to him. After a terse interaction, Derek finally speaks and the two realize they’re mates. Well, surely Stiles can still get his happy ending. Right?

Summary
How a simple flight can end up being everyone’s worst nightmare.
Plane-sick Stiles who's afraid of flying. A burning car. An explosion. A dead pilot. Three Werewolves, a Coyote and a Banshee stuck in the desert with one very badly injured human who cannot heal himself. Add to that some very bad people, mountain lions, loads of problems, loads of angst, friendship, hurt, pain and stress, and there you have it. This story is blatant Stiles-Whumping (and then some for some other characters too) and I do mean Whumping, with loads and loads of hurt/comfort and angst as sugar coating. Ah yes, there is also a lot of friendship going on, with Sciles, Stydia, Stalia and Sterek-hints to top it all.
I’ve taken a bit of liberty with the area our characters travel in, even though most of it is based on real locations and towns.
Any medical errors are on my behalf, even though I did do a lot of research for this.
This is by the way, the longest fic I’ve even written, so bear with me. Thanks :)Series

I think everything’s eventually going to be okay, but I have no idea what’s going to happen next. And neither do you, and neither does Hotch. Because there’s a Stiles loose in the BAU.
This has never happened before. There isn’t a training module for “teen with crime-scene curiosity and unlimited caffeine access”. No one knows what he’s going to do next, least of all Stiles. He’s never been in an FBI unit before, he’s as confused as you are.
One minute he’s alphabetizing case files like some kind of evidence librarian. The next minute? He’s rerouting the coffee machine into a forensic data uplink — not a thing — just to see if it helps morale.
Every day is a surprise email: 'Update: the Stiles has rolled an office chair into the evidence room and is giving a TED Talk to the blood spatter board'.
And we all just nod, because what’s the protocol? There isn’t one.

But no one listens to him. Tired of feeling left out, Stiles begins to investigate on his own, trying to prove himself to the pack. But he gets a bit sidetracked. What if there is more to life than just being the doormat to his pack mates? As Stiles comes closer to the truth of the case, he also discovers that he has talents, friends and a family outside of the pack. Maybe he is more than people have always made him out to be.
Note: I added the Stiles/Derek tag because they have a few moments and they do have feelings for each other. But they are not together. Their relationship is not the focus of this story. They don't even get together in this one, hence the pre-Sterek tag.

After waking up at the age of 11 without any memories of his past Stiles spends eight years with his father in the tiny town of Shelter Cove, California. After his father's death he receives a notice from a storage facility in some town called Beacon Hills. Stiles is confused and thinks the manager made a mistake until he finds a letter that should have been for his 18th birthday that his dad never gave him. It's from his mother, who he has no memory of. Weirdly enough, her letter mentions Beacon Hills and some woman named Talia, who he's supposed to trust. Confused and angry at his father, Stiles sets out for Beacon Hills anxious and determined to find out what his dad had been hiding from him all these years.

When Stiles reads the posts, he’s more confused. They’re older posts, back from his undergrad freshman year, but it was during a supernatural attack that a bunch of people got caught in. Stiles practically ran himself into the ground offering support, advice, and gathering information for Scott and Derek so they could do damage control.
“This tells me nothing,” Stiles says. “Except that you can use Google and know how to take screenshots.”
“I consider it your resume,” Fury tells him.
Stiles freezes, because what.
Fury doesn’t say anything else, doesn’t explain, even after Stiles gestures for more. “What the hell do you mean it’s my resume? If you haven’t realized it, I’m still in college.”
He doesn’t look impressed. “You’ve been in college. You have two degrees, four separate certifications, and you’re on the fast-track for a PhD.”
“I like learning,” Stiles deadpans.
“You like helping, and it just so happens that I have someone you can help.”
