If Leia didn’t know any better, she’d say he looked almost kind.
But she did know better.
And as Palpatine spoke, the lack of Imperial presence, the strangeness of this place, the words Vader had spoken before her brother had vanished—everything came together at once, understanding dawning on Leia in an instant.

The boy had already passed out, lying like a corpse on the cold, hard ground. Sasuke’s world stood still, and he dropped to his knees, turning Ita- whoever this was on his back so that he could take a closer look.
“Who are…” Sasuke mumbled in shock. Horror. “Who are you?”

On the Planet of his birth, Cloud had destroyed Sephiroth years ago. The reactors are long cold, the world is saved, and he and Tifa keep their little family in remembrance of the dead.
In this new dimension, it's like the apocalypse Cloud remembers was half-averted. Mako's still around, ShinRa's in business, and Tifa supposedly died years ago under Cloud's JENOVA-fueled rampage. The other problem? Everyone's alive, looking for answers, and this dimension is a little more different than it seems.
It's hard, taking out reactors while being hunted across the continent by the people who are apparently your soulmates. It's hard, and no one understands.

It is the natural law of the world that each person has at least one soulmate. The amount of bonds tied to the soul can be easily determined with how many unique symbols there are in the soulmark everyone was born with.
Just as the sun always rises every morning and the stars twinkle every night, every pair—or group—of soulmates would always have a Dreamer. For even with the unique soulmarks that would hopefully allow soulmates to recognize each other, the vastness of the planet still makes it difficult for them to find one another.
Legends say that it was Gaia’s pity, for she could not bear the thought of soulmates never finding each other. Hence, blessing each bond with a Dreamer who would be able to unite their fated souls together. After awakening in their coming of age, a Dreamer would be able to connect everyone who shares their soul bond through a shared dreamscape. It was because of this blessing, many were able to find their fated ones during their lifetime.

Genesis, Angeal, Sephiroth, and Zack are considered lucky soulmates who have found each other way before shared dreams. But that luck backfires when they could only meet their last soulmate in a space beyond sleep and reality.

Her hair is darker than most that live on the planet. It has not been sun-touched. Neither has her skin, which remains pale and smooth in deep contrast to the Tatooinians’ cracked and tan. She carries herself like she expects others to make way for her, though she will also kneel for the kids in the streets. She has none of the wariness that comes from smugglers hoping to go unnoticed or slaves who wish to avoid any kind of conflict. The weapons she carries and clothes she wears, speak of wealth wisely spent. She is not of Tatooine, the inhabitants agree, but the sand welcomes her all the same.
