Alex lets out a sharp honk. "Thanks," he slides into the booth and Greg follows suit, sitting opposite him of course, "it was a very, very long day."

“Technically,” Greg said lightly, “we’ve never identified the Taskmaster as an Alpha, or Alex as the Assistant as an Omega.”
For the first time, her smile slipped, just slightly. “Then how do you explain series 6, episode 6?”
“I’m afraid you’ll have to remind me.”
“‘I genuinely want to scent you right now’,” she recited in a flat imitation of Alex’s droll tone, before switching to an even worse imitation of his own. “‘Oh, do you? Come on then’.”
Despite himself – despite his usually shit memory – Greg couldn’t help but picture Alex, grinning at him, face flushed, eyes wide as he gave just the hint of a nod before they both leaned in so Alex could nuzzle against Greg’s neck, where one of his most prominent scent glands would be, if he was actually an Alpha.

The man smiled, revealing a gap between his two front teeth that instantly took about ten years off of him. “Do you remember everyone who visits your establishment?” he asked, over-enunciating every syllable in establishment as if he might be making fun of Greg, whose eyes narrowed.
“Most of them,” he said, setting the beer down with a thud in front of the man.
In truth, his memory was notoriously shit, but he had a sneaking suspicion that he’d remember this man.

Greg nods and pulls out a medium-sized paper cup. “Two sugars still?”
“Yes, please,” Alex says, trying not to look up. He must look insane, his eyes darting around the shop, around the counter, anywhere but at the large man that stands in front of him. He stares at his own shoes for a good fifteen seconds.
