Alhaitham then studied Kaveh. Kaveh looked entranced: jaw a little slack; coral eyes wide.
"You... really like long hair?"
Kaveh startled, blinked. "Yeah, I suppose I do," he said.
Alhaitham studied the flush of Kaveh's cheeks, his unrelenting gaze. "I see," he said.
Alhaitham grows his hair out. He has been growing his hair out since they were students. It falls to his hips in a river of silver and green. Kaveh looks, and looks, and looks.

"It's me, Kaveh. Let me into the house," he tells. Clearly his vocal chords have no idea what syllables are, though, because he ends up with three drawled out meows that make absolutely no sense. His ears flatten against his head. Annoying.
"Pshht," Kaveh snorts, pulling the cat to his chest, "Goodness gracious; you're just as grumpy too. What were you trying to get inside for?"
"This is my house."
"Meow meow indeed," Kaveh singsongs.
Alternatively: Alhaitham turns into a cat. Kaveh is too much of a kind soul not to take him in.

“There are f-f-f-five stages,” Shang Qinghua shivers out, lips numb. “The fifth stage is death.”

To preserve the peace between the Courts of the Fae, there is a long tradition of good faith marriages.
This time, the Summer Court chooses Lance as their Intended, and the Winter Court selects an elite group to travel to the Summer Court and win his hand in marriage.
Keith, who is of mixed heritage competes and wins a place in the Entourage of Suitors, not because he wants to wed, but because it is a way of proving himself to the higher ups in the adopted Court.
Unfortunately, he wasn't banking on actually falling for the Intended.
Lance is happy to be chosen as the Intended and relishes all the attention, but chafes under the strict rules he must follow to avoid showing favoritism and potentially slighting any of the powerful Fae competing for his hand.
Too bad the Suitor he likes most doesn't seem to like him, at all.

Keith has always been lonely. He didn’t know many people, and the few he knew were much taller than him. So when faced between the choice of being a circus’ freak attraction and the forest, of course he chose to live in the forest.
But the forest is dark and dangerous, perhaps not the best place for a boy the size of a thumb to live in. Plus, he’s not alone. The fact that his best friend is a frog is irrelevant in this matter. Lance can speak, sometimes too much if you ask Keith. They bicker and taunt each other a lot, but when it comes down to it, Lance will always be there for him, right?
When the snow melts and the earth thaws, will their friendship grow into something new? Or is it impossible for some bonds to preserve through the winter?
