“You know she’ll never feel the same way about you,” Mon-El says, pulling his eyes away from Kara.
He’s trying to hurt her. Lena could laugh. As if he could. She’s a Luthor for crying out loud.
“Never. You have to know that?” he implores.
She smiles. “I’m the smartest person in every room I enter. I have three PhDs and I run a billion dollar company. I’m not a figurehead either, I manage the day-to-day operations. It sucks.”
He opens his mouth to interrupt, to tell her that none of those things make her worthy of Kara’s love. To point out everything she’s left out. Her namesake. Her past. But she simply raises her hand.
“Of course, I know, Mon-El. I’m not in the habit of ignorance. Why would I start now?”
OR
Kara and Mon-El are a couple. Lena tries to get over it. But her stupid dumb heart can’t stop beating for the blonde Kryptonian. And if she can’t have her, well she’ll be damned if she doesn’t at least help the asshole who can.

“I found this at Kara’s apartment.” Alex’s voice is calm, but there’s something heavy underneath it. Something frayed, unraveling. “In the trash.”
Lena stares at the envelope, at the familiar handwriting on the front. Her name. Kara’s handwriting. Her lungs feel too tight.
Alex sets the envelope down on Lena’s desk. “There were… others,” she continues. “Unfinished versions. Some were torn up. Some were barely started. But this one—” She exhales. “This is the one she actually wrote.”
Lena doesn’t touch it. Doesn’t move.
Alex hesitates, then straightens. “I thought you should have it.”
Lena forces herself to meet her eyes. “Why?”
Alex’s throat works, like she’s choosing her words carefully. Like she already knows Lena is looking for a reason to shut this down. To refuse. To pretend none of this matters.
“Because I don’t know if she’ll ever get the chance to say what’s in there.”

“Are you going to keep staring at me all night?” the witch said, breaking Kara out of her reverie with a start.
They’d been silent for a few moments now, and she’d fallen into a trance that she would’ve sworn was witchcraft if she didn’t know any better. No, this bewitchment was of Kara’s own volition, enraptured by the woman’s alabaster skin and raven hair plastered to her face. The dark cloak she wore was black with water and seemed to swallow her, making her seem almost childish, playing dress-up in her mother’s clothes. The thought of a childhood so normal for the young witch made Kara startle slightly, blinking rain out of her eyes as she suppressed a shiver.
“Because, you know, if you want to kiss me, you may as well ask. The sun’s setting and it’s cold, and the hills are boring. So, by all means, get on with it.”
Kara choked on a splutter and felt her face warm with embarrassment, chasing away the edge of the cold wind. “I don’t want to kiss you! I’m here to- to slay you.”

The longer Lena stands in her bedroom, her still-wet hair slowly dripping onto the hardwood, the more she wonders whether screaming will make her feel any better. She’s been waiting for this phone call for the last twenty-four hours and now she's staring at the missed call banner. Somehow she already knows that calling back isn’t going to work out in her favor, so instead she closes her eyes and clicks on the voicemail.
“Hi Lena, this is Kara Danvers! I got your messages, all seven of them. I’m so sorry that we didn’t have a chance to sit down this week in person, although it sounds like you’ve had your hands full at work. I have some stuff I need to take care of before we leave, so I’ll have to meet you at the airport. Since I’m cutting it a little close, I’ll send a courier to pick up my ticket from you this afternoon. And Lena? Take a deep breath. This is all going to be fine. Your ex-fiancée will wish she’d never left you and your family will think we’re in love. Trust me. Look, I’ve got to go, but I’ll see you at the airport. Can’t wait to meet you.”

Kara not only has to deal with someone trying to kill her again, she also has to explain to her best friend why and how her carbon-copy is walking around LuthorCorp, and has to keep her sister from actually killing the Other Lena.
And why is it easier to talk to the Other Lena who wants to kill her than it is to talk to her actual best friend?

Evil Lena ends up in National City and Kara can't seem to stay away from her. Her Lena isn't too pleased.

Lena struggles with her attraction to Kara and vice versa, neither woman wanting to cross any lines. Eventual Kara/Sam/Lena poly plot but it will take a while to get there. Lena has a 6 year old. The woman on Lena’s doorstep is, quite frankly, the most confusing person she’s ever seen.
At first glance she looks like every other housewife Lena has ever encountered. She’s wearing a reddish-brown skirt and a plain yellow blouse, her blonde hair in a stiff updo and her eyes magnified by large eyeglasses, and her makeup is well-applied if a little outdated. If she was standing further away Lena would have guessed that she was in her early forties at least, but after a more thorough look, Lena would be surprised if the visitor was much older than herself.
The woman’s smile looks a little fixed and her eyes are wide as saucers, staring at Lena silently. Lena clears her throat.
“…Can I help you?”

Lena moves to the suburbs in the spring of 1969 to insulate herself from the world. To avoid getting hopelessly entangled with a married woman ever again. She can keep her head down, host some parties to get her needs met, and disappear.
