It's been nearly one year since Kris Dreemur vanished into thin air. Despite everything, Noelle Holiday still remembers her childhood fondly. Those Christmases at the Dremurr's house—everyone seemed so happy. She can never go back to that now. Her present is not particularly appealing to her, either—she has people to talk to and things to do, but that's really just to keep her mind occupied. There really is nothing for her in this town.

Summary
Susie finds that the best use of her life is nothing more than scraping by on scamming and stealing her way through life. She's got friends (one friend), a home (single-room apartment) and is feeling great (debatable) about everything.
But when she accidentally picks a former silent expert killer as her latest mark to steal from, and accidentally ropes said killer into protecting her, Susie will be forced out of her "idyllic" life and tossed head first into a world of assassins, other worlds, and a life way harder than she was expecting.
She just hopes the expert killer assassin she's stuck with doesn't turn on her in the end.
Facing the small army of contract killers is easy. Getting along with Kris? That's the hard part.
