Summary
In a world where Morax is the God of Death whose power keeps the damned in Hell where they belong, he cannot even dream to live a true mortal life as Zhongli. His godhood, granted to him by his Gnosis, is what protects the entirety of Teyvat from the scorn of the dead. More precious and important than his own life, he guards it as the true Gate of Hell that it is.
But the Cryo Archon still requires said Gnosis for her own means, and thus comes up with an appropriate strategy to acquire it. Even when Childe, Tartaglia the Eleventh Harbinger, is set to literally unlease Hell upon Teyvat by stealing the heart of the feared God of Death, he knows not what consequences will follow him home.
"Morax... You are the guardian of the last Gate, protecting the world from the hands of the damned. I understand this– but you need not fear love. Simply being wary of who you let into your heart is enough, is it not?”
