Three and a half years after closing the Hellmouth, Faith is doing good. She’s living in Cleveland, taking care of her dog, and showing a new Slayer the ropes. There’s just one tiny problem. “Well, I can’t have that,” Halbrand tells her, and he downs the rest of his draft before placing the empty glass back down onto the bar with a thud. He pulls out his wallet and pays for it. “I’d feel really bad if I left you stranded out here,” he starts to say, tucking his wallet back into his pocket, “so what’s our heading, princess?”
Galadriel’s eyes grow wider, and she finally looks at him. “Our heading?” she asks, like she doesn’t know what he means when she does.
Halbrand nods his head. “Yes, our heading. Where are we going next?”
“We?”
Halbrand meets her eyes, seeing the slight flush deepening the apples of her cheeks. Some of it’s alcohol. Some of it’s embarrassment. Some of it might just be because she finds him attractive if her little lip biting is anything to go by. “Yes,” he agrees firmly, “we. We’re out here together right now, aren’t we? Why not make the most of it?”
