His brain quite literally stops functioning. Hannah is looking anxiously at him, waiting for his reaction. She looks like she’s about to be sick. He knows he needs to say something. Anything. He does open his mouth but no sound comes out.
In retrospect, it’s a really good thing she made him sit down.
“Dean? Did you-”
“You’re pregnant,” he repeats.
“Mmhmm.” She swallows hard, her forehead crinkled with worry.
“You’re sure?”
She nods.
“And it’s…” he starts.

Summary
She motions to the near-empty bowl and runaway cereals on the kitchen island. “I'm pretty sure that kind of dinner lacks several major food groups.”
“And as usual you’re here to rescue me from myself,” he laughs. This deep, self-deprecating chuckle she’s gotten accustomed to.
Except his eyes on her have a new warmth. An ember, grown from the tinder of kinship. Two wounded souls recognizing the pain in front of them.
She plops the brown paper bag on the marble. “How do you feel about pasta?” She asks, busying herself with emptying the content.
“Better than I do about the dinner I was about to have,” he replies.
He’s playing it off as humorous but the gravity in his voice is still there, the seriousness of the unsaid that always lingers between them. Not because they can’t speak the truth, but because they don’t need to.

Surrounded by the uplifting beat of Blondie, she soaks it all in. Capp, Tony and Mouch are at one table, probably up to no good. On the other side of the room, Violet and Ritter laugh over Stella's umbrella-adorned signature cocktails. Matt and Cindy are swaying together on the dance floor, beaming smiles on both their faces. It’s easy to pretend things are back to the way they were two years ago. It's easy to pretend everything is alright.
Except it's not. Not by a mile.

It’s not like she hasn’t heard all of these words before. But coming from Dean Archer, they’re somehow scandalous. Not to mention inappropriate.

Summary
This time, Sylvie does not laugh at the bluntness of Kim’s words, instead blushing a fierce shade of pink. She was only half looking at Kim when she said those words, but now Sylvie looks at the other woman more directly. She is greeted by Kim looking at her—although, maybe staring would be more accurate.
It’s an intense look, a look her friend has never given her before, a look that says that maybe Kim doesn’t want to be just her friend tonight.
Or; at the end of 3x23, Sylvie doesn't go home with Roman-- but instead with Kim. And gets the fucking she deserves.
